The Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev made an announcement on Thursday during a press conference that they were talking with Israel about starting a free trade initiative and potentially have them join the European Economic Union.
This comes as more of the so called allies to the US are siding with Eastern states, such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the Philippines.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) countries and Israel will hold the first round of talks on creation of a free trade area by the end of 2016, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday.
“Before the end of the year the first round of talks [on a free trade area creation] is scheduled with Israel. Negotiations are to be launched with Serbia and a number of other states,” Medvedev said at the expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. – Sputnik News
As Russia is developing huge oil and natural gas deposits off their coast, this is a lucrative relationship for Israel to have into the future.
It looks like between China and Russia, all of the major UDS allies are getting snapped away from them.
