NBA superstar LeBron James’ son, Bronny, “suffered a cardiac arrest” on Monday while working out at the Galen Center at USC, according to a family spokesperson.
“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest,” a James family spokesperson said in a statement to multiple outlets. “Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU.
“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update the media when there is more information. LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”
“According to The Athletic on Tuesday, James was out of the ICU and in stable condition. The incident occurred where the Trojans play and practice. The team’s 2023-24 campaign doesn’t begin until later this year,” Fox News reported.
A spokesperson for the university told Fox News: “We are not in a position to comment out of respect for student privacy.”
“Bronny James, LeBron’s oldest son, committed to USC in May. He chose the Trojans over Ohio State and Oregon. Bronny was the 33rd-ranked player in his class, and he was named a McDonald’s All-American earlier this year. During James’ tenure at Sierra Canyon High School in California, the school went 95-22. He averaged 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game during his senior season. He is eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft, and LeBron has spoken of his wish to team up with his son in the pros,” the outlet noted.

After graduating from Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles this spring, Bronny, 18, will join the USC basketball team as a freshman.
He was a four-star recruit who shone in the March McDonald’s All-American Game against some of the best high school basketball players in the nation.
“So damn proud of you kid!” his father wrote on Instagram after Bronny committed to attend USC. “I have no words besides I LOVE YOU!!!”
James, 38, will begin his sixth season with the Los Angeles Lakers and his 21st overall in the NBA. The four-time MVP and NBA champion has stated that playing in the NBA alongside his son is one of his unfulfilled dreams.
“My last year will be played with my son,” James told the Athletic in 2022. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
