A popular pro-former President Donald Trump CNN commentator, Alice Stewart, has died suddenly.

Stewart, one of the rare voices of support for the former president on the network, died unexpectedly, it was announced Saturday, CNN reported.

“Law enforcement officials told CNN that Stewart’s body was found outdoors in the Belle View neighborhood in northern Virginia early Saturday morning. No foul play is suspected, and officers believe a medical emergency occurred,” the network said as tributes from her friends and colleagues poured in online.

“Alice was a very dear friend and colleague to all of us at CNN,” CEO Mark Thompson said in an email to network staff. “A political veteran and an Emmy Award-winning journalist who brought an incomparable spark to CNN’s coverage, known across our bureaus not only for her political savvy, but for her unwavering kindness. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn such an extraordinary loss.”

Stewart was the former communications director for the 2016 presidential campaign of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who paid tribute to her on X, formerly Twitter.

“Heartbreaking. Alice was wonderful and talented and a dear friend. And she loved America fiercely. She lived every day to the fullest, and she will be deeply missed. May God’s comfort and peace be upon her loved ones. RIP,” he said.

She worked in the same role for former Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and then former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, the latter of whom paid tribute to her on X.

“I don’t know anyone whoever met @AliceStewartDC that didn’t like her or anyone that knew Alice that didn’t love her. She was a faithful witness to her Savior Jesus. I will miss my dear friend. May she rest in His presence,” he said.

Tributes from CNN hosts, guests, and other media personalities were also shared.

“My heart is broken over the passing of our dear colleague Alice Stewart. We’ve been friends going back to the 2012 campaign. We spent so many weekends talking politics with the wonderful @MariaTCardona – they always spoke so passionately but with kindness and civility. Alice was my friend and I loved her. RIP,” CNN anchor Jim Acosta said.

“So sad to hear this. Alice came on the Kelly File many times and she was always smart, kind, savvy and had a way of humanizing politics and politicians. I’m so sad for her family, and for us. May she rest in peace,” former Fox News host Megyn Kelly said.

“I am turned inside out at this tragic news. As many know, Alice & I were like sisters from opposite ends of the political aisle. We debated but w respect. I will miss her dearly but seems God needed some top-notch communications help. RIP beautiful friend,” CNN contributor Maria Cardona said.

“Alice Stewart was a woman’s woman who brought kindness and support along with smarts and expertise. I met her in Iowa in 2007 covering the Huckabee presidential campaign and worked with her in politics before I got to call her a CNN colleague. I can’t believe she’s gone,” CNN anchor and moderator for the coming presidential debate between President Joe Biden and former President Trump, Dana Bash, said.

“I’m devastated by the news of Alice Stewart’s untimely passing. We were colleagues at @CNN and on the senior advisory board of the @HarvardIOP. You’d be hard put to find a nicer, kinder person. She will be missed by all who knew her,” CNN contributor David Axelrod said.

“Just devastating news about our colleague Alice Stewart. She will always be remembered by her kindness above all,” CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins said.

“I’m truly heartbroken to hear this. Alice was sharp, insightful and, most important of all, had a good heart and generous spirit. A tragedy to lose her, and so suddenly,” CNN anchor Jim Sciutto said.
