As the 2024 presidential election approaches, there has been a ton of speculation about who is going to be the Republican nominee.
But the Democrat nominee has been assumed to be Joe Biden, particularly after CBS News reporter Nancy Cordes that he intends on being the nominee.
“Have you decided whether you are going to run for reelection in 2024? You haven’t set up a reelection campaign yet, as your predecessor had by this time,” she said.
“The answer is yes. My plan is to run for reelection. That’s my expectation,” he said.
That would likely rule out Kamala Harris attempting to get the nomination as it would cause infighting in the Party and the administration if she did.
But conservative writer Wayne Dupree has a theory. And his theory is a stunning one as it involves Harris getting rid of Biden to make herself the president and the nominee via the 25th Amendment.
The 25th Amendment says “Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”
Dupree talked about the issues Biden has had with Afghanistan, inflation, immigration, and other things during his first year in the White House and speculated that it could be part of some master plan by Harris and the Democrats to let him take the brunt of the criticism.
“If so, recent events have moved the timetable up. Biden’s weird basement campaign was meant to protect him from the kind of public meltdown he’s had over Afghanistan. But there’s no hiding it now. Even Harris’ cackle is a public relations preference to a president who submerges into a fetal state when the heat comes calling. So what’s the plan?” he said.
“Well, they can’t do it under the gun. So it won’t be immediate. But they don’t want to go into the midterms with Biden as an albatross. If this was indeed a plan then Biden knows he was a patsy president and will be ready to resign probably next spring. If not, there could be some pushback from Team Biden directed at Team Obama/Harris. Biden may be just sentient enough to resent being pushed out of power. However, if Harris uses the 25th he is at a disadvantage. Btw, there is a DC rumor that Harris’ veep pick would be Michelle Obama. Probably poppycock. Probably.
“Or could this be the Dems ‘ace’ up their sleeve, since Kamal’s poll numbers are almost as bad as Joe’s?” he said.
And it could be that Harris is being kept in the shadows to insulate her from criticism and keep her pristine for her chance at becoming president.
On the Fox News show “The Five” last week the hosts speculated about where Harris may be during her apparent absence.
“If I’m Kamala Harris right now, I’m extremely offended because you have been used,” co-host Will Cain said. “They used you to pander to a voting base to get votes. They had a minority, they had a woman and now that they don’t need her, they have shelved her because her approval rating is -19.”
He said Harris is a “liability” to the administration when she is on the scene but she was not a liability during the 2020 presidential election.
“Kamala has a right to be very, very upset,” the host said. “But the Biden administration is in a very tough position. Do we admit that we used Kamala to get elected, or do we run her back out and hurt our numbers the way hers have plummeted?”
Shannon Bream noted that Harris’ own presidential campaign was a disaster.
“She was a great fit for this ticket, the host said. “But remember during the primaries she never caught on fire. She wasn’t great in the primary debates. She wasn’t polling well, she couldn’t raise money… So while she was a good fit on the ticket, whether she can be a good leader and manage things well is a totally different question.”
But host Greg Gutfeld speculated that Harris is being kept safe so that she can be used when the time comes.
“They’re just waiting for the right time to break the glass and take her out,” he said. “We really don’t know how bad she is but Democrats are going to assume it can’t be any worse than this.”
