Donald Trump boarded his private jet at around 9:30 Thursday morning at LaGuardia Airport to fly to Washington D.C. for his meeting with Barack Obama. As his plane prepared to take off, however, Trump was given an amazing surprise that left him feeling both touched and humbled.
The Gateway Pundit reported that as Trump’s plane taxied on the runway, it had to travel underneath an arch of cascading water plumes shot into the air by a pair of Port Authority fire trucks. According to Conservative Tribune, New York firefighters and airport personnel could be seen waving and saluting as the plane passed by.
The time-honored tradition of a water cannon salute is typically used for ceremonial purposes and is meant to resemble a wedding arch that a newly-married couple would walk under.

The salute is a major honor and is only saved for very special people. It can be used at airports to mark the retirement of senior pilots and air traffic controllers, as well as the first and last flights of certain airlines or aircraft.
Vice President-elect Mike Pence was also given a similar salute when his plane followed Trump’s to Washington D.C. for the meeting.
