Throughout the presidential election, Donald Trump repeatedly promised that he would appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton and hopefully put her in prison. That’s why millions of Americans are furious right now after it started to appear that Trump is going back on this promise.
American News reported that Trump started to backtrack on this in his first interview after the election, when he was asked about his controversial campaign pledge.
“It’s not something I’ve given a lot of thought because I want to solve health care, jobs, border control, tax reform,” Trump responded.
During Trump’s interview with 60 Minutes on Sunday, he praised both Hillary and Bill Clinton, saying they called him after his victory.
“So, Hillary called, and it was a lovely call,” Trump told Lesley Stahl. “And it was a tough call for her, I mean, I can imagine. Tougher for her than it would have been for me. I mean, for me, it would have been very, very difficult.”
“She couldn’t have been nice,” Trump continued. “She just said, ‘Congratulations, Donald, well done.’ And I said, ‘I want to thank you very much; you were a great competitor.’”
Trump also called Clinton “very strong and very smart.”
