One of the persistent attacks that have been made on Donald Trump is that he often tends to speak in generalities rather than offering specifics of whatever he is talking about.
It looks like that ship has sailed, especially when it comes to his views on guns and the 2nd amendment in general. He has released his official policy position on his website.
“The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period,” the position paper began.
Trump went on to explain that the right to keep and bear arms is a right that pre-exists both the government and the Constitution, noting that government didn’t create the right, nor can it take it away.
He labelled the 2nd Amendment as “America’s first freedom,” pointing out that it helps protect all of the other rights we hold dear.
He pointed to successful case studies where these measures were implemented.
He is also planning on getting rid of the pointless magazine bans and aims to fix a background system that is currently broke.
Trump wants to give further support to concealed carry owners as well as putting bans on guns being carried on military bases unnecessarily.
