Before the recent election, Trump made a promise to his supporters that he would “drain the swamp.” Specifically, he released a “Contract for the American voter” that contained a litany of “measures to clean up the corruption and special interest collusion in Washington, D.C.”
He has been working closely with the Republican Congress to do just that.
“Hiring freezes, an end to automatic raises, a green light to fire poor performers, a ban on union business on the government’s dime and less generous pensions” were just some of the ideas being drafted, according to the Post.
Of course the liberal Post described these plans in a nefarious light, claiming they would “erod(e) job protections and grind() down benefits,” but as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich explained, draining the swamp was mandatory.
“We’re going to have to get the country to understand how big the problem is, the human costs of it and why it’s absolutely essential to reform,” he remarked.
