New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik is speaking out against Wyoming GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, saying “it’s time” that she was voted out of office.

Stefanik said she endorsed Cheney’s primary opponent, Harriet Hageman, for the upcoming GOP primary in Wyoming.

“It was very clear that Liz Cheney lost the support of her colleagues in Congress by epic proportions just like she’s going to lose the support of her constituents in Wyoming,” Stefanik said.

“You’re not entitled to these positions in elected office,” Stefanik added. “You are elected by your constituents and in the case of leadership, you’re elected by your colleagues.”

“The American people are far more important than Liz Cheney and as an elected official, you should never forget that – that the American people are the most important voices in our constitutional republic,” Stefanik said. “When you forget that, it’s time you’re out of elected office.”

Cheney raised nearly $3 million in the first quarter of this year and grew her war chest to almost $7 million as the Wyoming Republican fights to hold off a GOP primary challenger endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

“Sources familiar with Cheney’s fundraising in January, February, and March confirmed Monday that the congresswoman plans to report to the Federal Election Commission a first-quarter fundraising total of $2.94 million and cash on hand of $6.8 million. Those are big numbers for a small state like Wyoming. But Cheney could need every penny to defeat Republican primary challenger Harriet Hageman, an attorney,” the Washington Examiner reported.

“Wyoming, a solid red state, delivered nearly 70% of its vote to Trump in 2016 and 2020. The former president’s support for Hageman in the Aug. 16 primary to pick a Republican nominee for Wyoming’s single, at-large House seat could be difficult for Cheney to overcome. But in the competition for resources, Cheney has the upper hand: Hageman’s first-quarter haul was just $1.3 million,” the report added.

Recent polling found that Cheney is underwater big time versus Trump-backed Harriet Hageman in the Wyoming GOP primary.

According to a SoCo Strategies poll conducted to gauge the impact of Trump endorsements, Cheney is 18-points behind Hageman.

The new survey of Republican voters found that Hageman, a GOP activist, and Cheyenne land and water rights attorney, leads Cheney, 38%-18%. State Representative Anthony Bouchard is at 12% and 26% are undecided.

The independent survey — not done for Cheney or Hageman — was included in a handful of other state results showing that a Trump endorsement can be a game-changer.

“The only 2022 Wyoming House Race Polls that have been carried out were carried out before Trump endorsed Harriet Hageman so they are not in sync with present conditions, but they do give us a glimpse into the amount of disillusionment Wyoming Republicans have with Liz Cheney for her vote to impeach Trump. Cheney does not cross 23% in any poll, which already spells trouble for an incumbent with statewide name recognition,” Crowds Wisdom reported.

In a September statement, Trump said he is backing Hageman, whom he said “is running against warmonger and disloyal Republican” Cheney.

“Harriet is a fourth-generation daughter of Wyoming, a very successful attorney, and has the support and respect of a truly great U.S. Senator, Wyoming’s own Cynthia Lummis,” Trump continued.

“Harriet Hageman adores the Great State of Wyoming, is strong on Crime and Borders, powerfully supports the Second Amendment, loves our Military and our Vets, and will fight for Election Integrity and Energy Independence (which [President Joe] Biden has already given up),” he added.

“Unlike RINO Liz Cheney, Harriet is all in for America First. Harriet has my Complete and Total Endorsement in replacing the Democrats’ number one provider of sound bites, Liz Cheney. Make America Great Again!” the former president concluded.
