‘The View’ Co-Host Says She’s ‘Upset 24 Hours A Day’ Living In Red State

One co-host of ABC’s “The View” admitted during a show late last week that she’s constantly “upset” living in a deep red state and may even be contemplating leaving the country.

During Friday’s episode, the co-hosts delved into the factors that contribute to the high happiness rankings of Nordic countries. However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when co-host Ana Navarro used the opportunity to condemn the policies of Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis. She characterized the state as a miserable place and accused DeSantis of promoting political gain through the propagation of “insanity” and “manic paranoia.”

“They are banning absolutely everything that isn’t the kitchen sink, and tomorrow, I may wake up, and the kitchen sink has been banned,” she said. “They are terrifying teachers. People don’t want to be teachers in Florida.”

According to Fox News, the co-hosts continued their discussion on the happiness rankings of Nordic countries after a commercial break. This time, they shifted their focus to Finland, which has held the title of the world’s happiest country for six years in a row.

Co-host Sunny Hostin expressed a perspective commonly associated with the left, suggesting that Finland’s high ranking in happiness studies is due to its government’s provision of social services. Hostin specifically highlighted Finland’s free healthcare and one-year maternity leave as examples of this, implying that these policies contribute to a more stress-free society.

“All those life stresses that we worry about — like, ‘How am I gonna pay for my kids’ school? How am I gonna pay for my house? How am I gonna do this?’ — they don’t have it! They’re just hanging out!” Hostin noted.

Co-host Joy Behar actually played devil’s advocate, noting that Finns also pay higher tax rates in order to support all of the government services they are provided. Then Behar and Hostin remarked about how much unhappier Americans, by comparison, tend to be.

“Sunny told me this morning I need to find my happiness,” Navarro noted.

“She was upset at 8:30, I was like ‘You need to go to Finland,’” Hostin responded.

“Maybe if you lived in Florida, you would be upset 24 hours a day too,” Navarro claimed.

Behar then interjected, “Time to move.”

Navarro when on to say she was thinking about entering for a chance to win a luxury vacation in Finland but lamented the fact that the country lacks “Cuban restaurants” and “taco places.”

Navarro has been vocal in her opposition to DeSantis, regularly criticizing his policies. She went so far as to allege that DeSantis secured his re-election by “gaming the system,” despite winning by a margin of nearly 20 points. More recently, Navarro took aim at the governor’s education policies, claiming that he banned certain books, a claim that has been challenged by many.

“Listen, if I was a parent in Florida, I would be a hell of a lot more concerned with banning of books,” Navarro said. “It’s the second-highest state to ban books.”

In June 2022, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly shredded Navarro after the latter invoked disabled children as a reason to keep abortion legal.

Navarro, while speaking on CNN after the Supreme Court ended Roe v. Wade and sent the issue of abortion back to states, opined that ending a pregnancy when you know the baby will be disabled was a reason to keep abortion.

“And I am not anybody to tell you what you need to do with your life or with your uterus,” she said. “And because I have a family with a lot of special needs kids. I have a brother who’s 57 and has the mental and motor skills of a 1-year-old.”

“And I’ve got another, another step-grandson who is very autistic,” she said. “Who has autism, and it is [inaudible]. And their mothers and people who are in that society, who are in that community will tell you that they’ve considered suicide because that’s how difficult it is to get help. Because that’s how lonely they feel.”

None of that sat well with Kelly, who lambasted Navarro on her SiriusXM podcast in the wake of Navarro’s remarks.

“It’s absolutely disgusting,” the host said. “I too, I have a nephew who’s significantly autistic and he’s amazing. And it has been challenging for his parents. But they put the work in to try to help him with the issues that he’s struggled with.”

“He’s awesome,” she said. “And the suggestion that a better alternative would’ve been to abort him because their life would’ve been easier suggests that she [Navarro] has absolutely no understanding of love. And how it works. And the gift of a child, challenged or not.”
