Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, offered her support for his post-2020 election actions, asserting that he did “what you would want a president to do” following various reports of alleged ballot improprieties.
Trump was a guest on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” joining fellow contributor Clay Travis, just hours after the ex-president faced four felony charges tied to accusations of fraudulent efforts to reverse his defeat against President Joe Biden.
“This is the second federal indictment the former president faces out of Smith’s investigation. Trump, who leads the 2024 GOP presidential primary field, has already pleaded not guilty to 37 counts related to his alleged improper retention of classified records from his presidency.”
Several charges have been levied against Trump, including allegations of deliberately withholding national defense information, participation in a conspiracy to obstruct justice, and dissemination of false statements. Moreover, a supplementary indictment issued late last month in conjunction with the ongoing investigation levied three additional accusations against him.
Lara said that while working as a senior adviser to her father-in-law’s 2020 campaign, she told Watters that “multiple times a day” she and others “would continue to receive reports from across the country of people, sometimes in the form of affidavits, detailing very questionable, nefarious things they saw at different polling locations.”
“So we had a lot of questions about what happened in the 2020 election. Quite frankly, I don’t think we’ve ever had an election in the United States history that we’ve come out of having more questions than we did post-2020,” she continued.
“Obviously, one of those people as well as a sitting president of the United States, my father-in-law Donald Trump, who did exactly what you would want a president to do,” she said. “He upheld and defended the Constitution of the United States by trying to ensure that we indeed had a free and fair election. That was his whole goal. That’s what he wanted to ensure was going on.”
The most recent indictment against Trump has sparked further comparisons of the U.S. under Biden to a third-world dictatorship. As the formal charges against Trump accumulate, meanwhile, the absence of any updates from Robert Hur, the special counsel assigned to probe Biden’s involvement with classified documents, becomes even more pronounced.
No existing statutory provision granted Biden the authority to possess classified documents as a U.S. senator or even vice president; only presidents have the inherent authority to declassify documents virtually at will under the Presidential Records Act, according to experts.
“This is nothing more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election, in which President Trump is the undisputed frontrunner and leading by substantial margins,” a Trump campaign spokesperson told Fox News Digital following the indictment.
“But why did they wait two and a half years to bring these fake charges, right in the middle of President Trump’s winning campaign for 2024? Why was it announced the day after the big Crooked Joe Biden scandal broke out from the Halls of Congress?” the spokesperson added.
“The answer is, election interference!” the spokesperson said. “The lawlessness of these persecutions of President Trump and his supporters is reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, the former Soviet Union, and other authoritarian, dictatorial regimes.”
“President Trump has always followed the law and the Constitution, with advice from many highly accomplished attorneys,” the spokesperson continued. “These un-American witch hunts will fail, and President Trump will be re-elected to the White House so he can save our Country from the abuse, incompetence, and corruption that is running through the veins of our Country at levels never seen before.”
The spokesperson added: “Three years ago, we had strong borders, energy independence, no inflation, and a great economy. Today, we are a nation in decline. President Trump will not be deterred by disgraceful and unprecedented political targeting!”
