The Republican-controlled Senate voted on Wednesday to officially acquit President Donald Trump on both articles of impeachment.
The impeachment witch hunt is finally over, but one top Republican is calling for House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to be “removed” over his actions during the impeachment trial.
During an interview on Fox News, former Utah Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz said Schiff must go.
“I still, to this day, do not understand why Adam Schiff has a security clearance,” said Chaffetz. “He continues to lie.”
Schiff is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, which gives him several privileges — including high-level security clearance and access to sensitive information.
However, since he “continues to put out information that he knows is not true,” Chaffetz strongly implied that Schiff should have his security clearance taken away.
Chaffetz makes a good point.
If Schiff is going to spread deceit for political gain, he cannot be trusted with the kind of access to information that someone of his position would typically have.
As Chaffetz pointed out: “He has stood in front of the United States Senate and talked about things that are not in the impeachment. I think he is a terrible embarrassment and somebody has got to, I hope, answer the question, ‘why do you have a security clearance?’”
With all of this considered, it’s obvious why Chaffetz says Schiff should lose his security clearance and no longer serve as the chairman of the powerful House committee.
Schiff, who served as the lead House impeachment manager for the Senate impeachment trial, has been busted countless times lying.
This is the same man who swore repeatedly that he saw damning evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia, only for that to be false.
He was completely wrong when it came to abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act by the FBI.
He vowed that former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation would result in Trump’s demise.
Schiff lied during an open hearing in the House and “parodied” a phone conversation between Trump and Zelensky when an actual transcript of the call was publicly available.
We recently learned the alleged Ukraine whistleblower, Eric Ciaramella, has a “bro-like” relationship with one of Schiff’s top aides.
Ciaramella is widely believed to be the CIA official who filed a complaint in August regarding Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky back in July.
Before that, Schiff and Democrats got caught intentionally omitting key evidence in transcripts that were favorable to Trump and exonerated him from “quid pro quo” allegations.
With all of this considered, many agree with Chaffetz that Schiff should lose his security clearance and no longer be the chairman of the powerful House committee.
