Attorney General William Barr has long been known as someone who doesn’t take crap from anyone. He tells it like it is, without fear.
And that’s exactly what Barr did this week when he unveiled a bold “criminal control” plan that Democrats will undoubtedly hate.
Following a string of deadly mass shootings in America, including another one in Texas over the weekend, Democrats are more determined than ever to take away guns from law-abiding Americans.
But Barr has a different approach.
The AG is proposing a “criminal control” plan that would put mass shooters to death in an expedited manner.
Criminals do not follow the law, so Barr’s approach would clearly be far more effective that the Democrats goal of eroding as much of the Second Amendment as possible.
Here’s more from the Washington Examiner on his the plan would work:
The Justice Department drafted legislation to speed up the death penalty for mass shooters, according to Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff Marc Short, who said the vice president is coordinating with Attorney General William Barr.
Short, who made this revelation while talking to reporters on Air Force Two on a Labor Day flight to Europe, said the vice president’s office has been working with the attorney’s general’s team on the issue.
The proposal to expedite capital punishment for those found guilty of mass murder would be a part of the White House’s eventual legislative package proposal to Congress when lawmakers return from their August recess to debate gun laws in the wake of a number of recent mass shootings.
This seems like a much more sensible approach than simply banning all guns in the U.S. and using the federal government to confiscate guns from Americans — which is what several 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have called for and suggested.
In fact, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that Democrats will try to take away a Constitutional right from Americans on Sept. 4.
When Congress comes back from recess, Pelosi is promising to hold votes on several anti-gun laws.
These laws, all of which aim to largely disarm law-abiding citizens, could potentially pass given Democrats control the House.
They will, of course, fail in the GOP-controlled Senate.
While most Americans want to keep people safe, it’s important to note that these far-left laws would severely trample on the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms.
And, perhaps most importantly, there’s no evidence to suggest that any of these pieces of legislation would actually reduce gun violence.
Many continue to argue that the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
