New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been quick to attack Republican members of Congress for, what she perceives to be, their transgressions, but when she says offensive things her party, who is swift to reprimand Republicans, remains silent.

On Wednesday, the 30-year-old representative unleashed on Republican House Minority Leader and California Rep. Kevin McCarthy and the entire Republican Party in a tweetstorm, comparing them to the Ku Klux Klan.

“People truly don’t understand the scale, intensity, & volume of threats targeting @IlhanMN. Kevin McCarthy is so desperate to be speaker that he is working with his Ku Klux Klan caucus to look aside & allow violent targeting of woc members of Congress. This cannot be ignored,” she said.

“While people toss out clichés like ‘we condemn all forms of racism & bigotry,’ the fact is Islamophobia is far too often tolerated and ignored. Bigotry is not made unacceptable by what one says about it, it’s made acceptable based on whether there are consequences for it or not.

“It’s not just about nasty phone calls and e-mails. GOP are given freedom to incite without consequence. They don’t have to pay for the security required from their acts- we do. They make money off it. &They are targeting those least likely to be institutionally protected first,” she said.

Whining is her business and business is good. But more than that, her accusations are abhorrent, and yet somehow her Democrat colleagues, the ones who censured Rep. Paul Gosar over a cartoon and who are calling for punishment for Rep. Lauren Boebert, are quiet on this despicable attack.

But when it came time to attack Rep. Gosar for an anime video Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was incensed and tore into him.

“In response to the Republican leader’s remarks when he says that this action is unprecedented, what I believe is unprecedented is for a member of House leadership of either party to be unable to condemn incitement of violence against a member of this body,” she said.

“It is sad. It is a sad day in which a member who leads a political party in the United States of America cannot bring themselves to say that issuing a depiction of murdering a member of Congress is wrong, and instead decides to venture off into a tangent about gas prices and inflation,” the congresswoman said. “What is so hard? What is so hard about saying that this is wrong?!”

“Now, this nihilism runs deep,” she said. “And it conveys and betrays a certain contempt for the meaning and importance of our work here. That what we do, as long as we claim that it is a joke, doesn’t matter. That what we say here doesn’t matter. That our actions every day as elected leaders in the United States of America doesn’t matter!”

Now either she is hopelessly not self-aware or she is a hypocrite. Either way, her stance against Rep. Gosar has become even more laughable.

But her target in her tweets was not Rep. Gosar, but rather Rep. Boebert who has apologized for her remarks and called Rep. Omar to apologize personally and was greeted with the same immaturity that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has shown when she hung up the call in her colleague’s face.

The phone call came after Boebert made some controversial comments about Omar to a crowd of supporters recently, and the call ended when both Congresswomen demanded public apologies for past remarks and Omar hung up on her, Fox News reported.

Boebert said in an Instagram video that she initiated the call with Omar because she “wanted to let her know directly that I had reflected on my previous remarks.”

“Now as a strong, Christian woman who values faith deeply, I never want anything I say to offend someone’s religion. So I told her that. Even after I put out a public statement to that effect, she said that she still wanted a public apology because what I had done wasn’t good enough. So I reiterated to her what I had just said,” the Republican said.

“She kept asking for a public apology so I told Ilhan Omar that she should make a public apology to the American people for her anti-American, anti-Semitic, anti-police rhetoric. She continued to press and I continued to press back. And then, Representative Omar hung up on me,” she said.

In a press release of her own Omar admitted that the phone call took place and it ended the way Boebert said it did.

“Today I graciously accepted a call from Rep. Lauren Boebert in the hope of receiving a direct apology for falsely claiming she met me in an elevator, suggesting I was a terrorist, and for a history of anti-Muslim hate,” the Democrat said.

“Instead of apologizing for her Islamophobic comments and fabricated lies, Rep. Boebert refused to publicly acknowledge her hurtful and dangerous comments. She instead doubled down on her rhetoric and I decided to end the unproductive call,” she said.
