Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez often boasts about her “power” and how she’s the future of the Democratic Party.
But the New York socialist lawmaker tried to go after White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and it backfired in a major way.
Democrats always try to paint Republicans as racists, and AOC is no different.
Ocasio-Cortez accused McEnany of neglecting to call her a congresswoman based on her race Monday when she addressed efforts by Democrats to defund police departments during a White House press briefing.
Jake Sherman, a reporter with Politico Playbook, quoted McEnany as referring to Ocasio-Cortez as “Biden adviser Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.”
The freshman lawmaker from the Bronx took exception to that characterization.
“[McEnany] wouldn’t be the first person to mistake a woman of color for having a lower position or title than she does,” Ocasio-Cortez responded. “But Kayleigh – in case you haven’t picked up a newspaper in two years, I’m a Congresswoman.”

McEnany implied her full remarks had been taken out of context and tweeted a short passage from a transcript of Monday’s White House press briefing.
Video shows her full comments were: “The president is appalled by the ‘defund the police’ movement. The fact that you have sitting congresswomen wanting to defund the police, notably Rashida Tlaib, notably Biden adviser AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, former Clinton, and Eric Holder spokesperson Brian Fallon, wanting to defund our police across the country? It is extraordinary.”
McEnany deadpanned: “Read the transcript, Congresswoman.”
A review of McEnany’s remarks shows that in response to a question by Fox’s John Roberts, she did refer to Ocasio-Cortez in the same mention with Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) as ‘congresswomen’.
…”The President is appalled by the Defund the Police movement. The fact that you have sitting congresswomen wanting to defund the police, notably Rashida Tlaib, notably Biden adviser AOC –Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a former Clinton and Eric Holder spokesperson Brian Fallon wanting to defund our police across this country, it is extraordinary…”

Another day, another false claim from Democrats.
Last month, Ocasio-Cortez has found herself in hot water again because she apparently believes the law does not apply to her.
The former bartender turned New York socialist lawmaker reportedly owes around $2,000 in unpaid taxes from a failed business venture, The Daily Mail reported.
And now, AOC is fighting the bill with a warrant from the New York Tax Department hanging over her head.
This tax warrant stems from a failed business Ocasio-Cortez launched in 2012, a publishing company called Brook Avenue Press, that went under back in 2016.
The tax bill itself is seven years old and the warrant was issued in July 2017.
AOC spokeswoman Lauren Hitt released a statement saying the bill is in dispute.
“The congresswoman is still in the process of contesting the tax warrant. The business has been closed for several years now, and so we believe that the state Tax Department has continued to collect the franchise tax in error. As anyone who’s tried to contest a tax bill in error knows, it takes time,” Hitt said.
Ocasio-Cortez is paid $174,000 annually as part of her congressional salary.
Her campaign wants everyone to believe that the tax bill was issued in “error” and that it is difficult to contest it.
It does not take seven years to pay a tax bill.
