The roof is falling in on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo amid his nursing home scandal and now more Democrats are going against him.

One of those Democrats is New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the biggest name Democrat so far to call for a full investigation, The Daily Caller News Foundation said.

“I support our state’s return to co-equal governance and stand with our local officials calling for a full investigation of the Cuomo administration’s handling of nursing homes during COVID-19,” the representative said on Friday.

“Thousands of vulnerable New Yorkers lost their lives in nursing homes throughout the pandemic,” the representative said. “Their loved ones and the public deserve answers and transparency from their elected leadership, and the Secretary to the Governor’s remarks warrant a full investigation.”

Cuomo and his administration are also subjects of an investigation by the FBI and a U.S. attorney over how they reported COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes, according to multiple reports.

The Cuomo administration issued an order on March 25 requiring nursing homes in the state to admit patients from hospitals suspected of having COVID-19.

The order prohibited nursing homes from testing hospital patients deemed “medically stable” for the virus prior to their admission.

At the onset of the pandemic, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) was reporting all nursing home resident deaths, regardless of whether they died at their facility or at a hospital.

This comes as a new study shows that Cuomo’s nursing home policy may have led to the deaths of 1,000 nursing home patients, The New York Post reported.

The study done by the Empire Center for Public Policy tied “several hundred and possibly more than 1,000” fatalities since the governor’s March 25, 2020 order.

“The findings contradict a central conclusion of the state Department of Health’s July 6 report on coronavirus in nursing homes, which said, among other things: ‘Admission policies were not a significant factor in nursing home fatalities,’ and ‘the data do not show a consistent relationship between admissions and increased mortality,’ ” a draft of the report by the Empire Center said.

It also comes after a New York Democrat said that he governor threatened him for not taking his side in the scandal.

Assemblyman Ron Kim said that the governor called to threaten him, telling him that he would “destroy” him if he did not help him with damage control after his coronavirus nursing home death coverup scandal was discovered.

“At first, there was a silence on the phone,” the assemblyman said to The Post. “Then the governor says, ‘Mr. Kim, are you an honorable man?’”

Kim said that he was bathing his kids when the call from the governor came.

He said that, on that call, the governor requested that he draft a statement “to say that Melissa DeRosa said there was a federal investigation and they had to deal with that first.”

Then the New York governor got vicious with the assemblyman, making threats against him, Kim said.

“You have not seen my wrath. I have been biting my tongue for months,” Kim recalled the governor saying to him.

“I can tell the whole world what a bad person you are and you will be finished,” he said that Cuomo said. “You will be destroyed.”

He said that the governor was so loud that “my wife could hear the governor yelling into the phone.”

“After that call, we were devastated. My wife didn’t sleep at all,” the assemblyman said. He said that after that call, Cuomo “called me four or five times on Saturday” but Kim did not answer.
