The intruder in the home of House Speaker and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Paul Pelosi was looking for the 82-year-old representative.

The man, who has been arrested after attacking Paul Pelosi with a hammer and hospitalizing him, shouted “Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?” a source said to CNN.

“The President is praying for Paul Pelosi and for Speaker Pelosi’s whole family. This morning he called Speaker Pelosi to express his support after this horrible attack. He is also very glad that a full recovery is expected. The President continues to condemn all violence, and asks that the family’s desire for privacy be respected,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on behalf of President Joe Biden.

“Horrified and disgusted by the reports that Paul Pelosi was assaulted in his and Speaker Pelosi’s home last night. Grateful to hear that Paul is on track to make a full recovery and that law enforcement including our stellar Capitol Police are on the case,” Senate Minority Leader and Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell said.

“What happened to Paul Pelosi last night is horrific. Heidi & I are praying for him & Nancy & the entire Pelosi family. May God’s protection be upon them. We can have our political differences, but violence is always wrong & unacceptable,” Sen. Ted Cruz said.

“Doug and I are appalled by the attack on Paul Pelosi, Speaker Pelosi’s husband. The entire Pelosi family is in our hearts and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Vice President Kamala Harris said.

CNN reported.

Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was attacked by a man with a hammer at the couple’s home in San Francisco early Friday morning, law enforcement sources tell CNN.

Pelosi, 82, was hospitalized but is expected to make a full recovery, the Democratic speaker’s office said in a statement.

Police arrested a suspect and his potential motive is under investigation.

The assailant entered the Pelosi residence through the back of the house, according two sources familiar with the early details of the incident, but little more is known about how the attack played out.

With Speaker Pelosi away, there would not have been a security detail at the residence, according to one source familiar with protocol.

The attacked occurred on Friday and he is expected to make a full recovery, the Speaker’s office said.

“Early this morning, an assailant broke into the Pelosi residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi.  The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation.  Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery.  The Speaker was not in San Francisco at the time,” Drew Hammill, a spokesperson for Speaker Pelosi, said.

“The Speaker and her family are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time,” he said.

Paul Pelosi had a busy Summer in which he made many headlines.

Pelosi sold 25,000 shares of Nvidia at around $165.05 in July which resulted in a loss for him of $341,365, a set of disclosures showed, The Daily Wire reported.

“One month later, Nvidia revealed that the federal government imposed export restrictions on the company’s A100 and forthcoming H100 circuits. The new regulations will ‘address the risk that the covered products may be used in, or diverted to, a ‘military end use’ or ‘military end user’ in China and Russia,’ Nvidia said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission,” The Daily Wire said.

A fortunate break for Pelosi and what a coincidence that he sold before the restrictions were placed on the company.

“Shares in Nvidia fell 7.7% on the news and a total of 16% since Pelosi sold shares on July 26. Pelosi — who was arrested after alleged drunk driving earlier this year — formerly exercised 200 call options on their expiration date of June 17 at a strike price of $100, according to more federal filings,” The Daily Wire said.

Speaking to Fox News, the Speaker’s spokesman, Drew Hammill, insisted that she had no knowledge of her husband’s financial transactions.

“As always, he does not discuss these matters with the speaker until trades have been made and required disclosures must be prepared and filed,” he said. “Mr. Pelosi decided to sell the shares at a loss rather than allow the misinformation in the press regarding this trade to continue.”

Last month, Paul Pelosi was hit with a double dose of bad news.

Now, there is increased attention on banning members of Congress and their spouses from trading in individual stocks while in office.

GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy, who will likely become the next Speaker if Republicans win back in the House in November, said there will be an investigation into the Pelosis stock trading.

McCarthy expressed concern over Paul Pelosi having tremendous success in picking the correct stocks to purchase and sell and recently purchased large shares of NVIDIA prior to the House and Senate passing legislation that benefited the company.

“I would look all the way through it,” he said of the Democrat proposal to ban stock trading for spouses of Congress members. “What I’ve told everybody is we will come back, and we will not only investigate this, we will come back with a proposal to change the current behavior.”
