Former Trump political adviser Steve Bannon has issued a warning of sorts to President Joe Biden as Republicans, who now control the House, ramp up a series of investigative hearings into him and his son, Hunter Biden.
Bannon, whose “War Room” podcast is featured on the Real America’s Voice streaming network, noted that as Republicans dig deeper into information and documents discovered on Hunter Biden’s now-infamous laptop, the president may find himself more at risk of being exposed for corruption.
“Bannon Warns Joe Biden: Preserve This —Your drug addict sexual deviant son is a disgrace to his country—the country he sold out for cash —the upcoming hearings will put forth to the American people and the World what lowlife scum he is and you are …,” Bannon wrote in a Gettr post, also sharing a Business Insider story that reported the legal notices Hunter Biden’s lawyer sent to Bannon and other Trump allies.
Newsweek added:
Abbe Lowell, a lawyer for the president’s son, sent notices to Bannon and 14 others this past Thursday asking them to preserve documents and data related to Hunter Biden. This evidence might be used for a lawsuit that involves some of Trump’s allies who spread around the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop, which he allegedly left in a computer repair store in 2019.
The notice was also sent to Roger Stone and Rudy Giuliani and indicates that the younger Biden might take legal action over the dissemination of his private information.
“You have made various statements and engaged in certain activities by your own admission, or that have been publicly reported in the media, concerning our client, Robert Hunter Biden (‘Mr. Biden’),” the letter reads, according to NBC News. “This letter (‘Notice’) constitutes notice that a litigation hold should be in effect for the preservation and retention of all records and documents related to Mr. Biden.”
“Abbe Lowell’s letter is a diversionary tactic,” Bannon noted on Sunday to Newsweek.
“The Biden Crime Family is financially compromised by the highest levels of the CCP [Chinese Communist Party],” Bannon added, noting further that the “Laptop from Hell is a road map.”
Robert Costello, who is Giuliani’s lawyer, told Business Insider on Sunday that the letters are “nothing more than an intimidation tactic designed to try to dissuade witnesses to the truth from speaking that truth.”
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has called on his colleagues in the House to interview the intelligence officials who signed a letter casting doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story back in 2020.
“That letter that they sent was an information operation itself and impacted and interfered in our election to a far greater extent than anything Russia could have ever hoped to accomplish,” Johnson said. “The House has to call those 51 intelligence officials.”
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan announced a new probe in mid-January into President Biden following revelations that he was in possession of Obama-era classified documents, potentially in violation of federal law governing such materials.
In a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, the Ohio Republican noted that it was his committee’s responsibility to conduct such “oversight” and added that he expected the Justice Department to cooperate. The Judiciary probe follows another by Rep. James Comer’s Oversight Committee investigation into the matter, as well as that of a special counsel appointed by Garland last week.
“On January 12, 2023, you appointed Robert Hur as Special Counsel to investigate these matters,” Jordan and Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) wrote. “The circumstances of this appointment raise fundamental oversight questions that the Committee routinely examines. We expect your complete cooperation with our inquiry.”
In the letter, Jordan also raised questions about the timing of the document disclosure earlier this month after learning that the first batch was discovered at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., just days before the midterm elections.
“It is unclear when the Department first came to learn about the existence of these documents, and whether it actively concealed this information from the public on the eve of the 2022 elections,” the two lawmakers wrote.
“It is also unclear what interactions if any, the Department had with President Biden or his representatives about his mishandling of classified material. The Department’s actions here appear to depart from how it acted in similar circumstances,” the letter continued.
