The Democrat Party and those involved with the investigation into the nonexistent collusion between President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia are about to get their payback.
U.S Attorney John Durham, who was appointed by Attorney General William Barr, has announced that he will give his report on the origins of that investigation by the end of the Summer, The Daily Mail reported.
Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec told Fox News that the goal of the investigation was not a report but that the report will be “be really pivotal to the restoration of that one tiered system of justice.”
“There is a story to be told there. The American people deserve resolution, and frankly, justice deserves resolution,” she said.
Last month Barr said that he did anticipate a significant development in Durham’s investigation and Kupec agreed with that assessment.
“There are no guarantees in life, but we certainly hope to see one by the end of the summer. I think it’s important,” the spokeswoman said.
Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer asked if the results could, at least, be guaranteed before the November election as top allies of President Donald Trump are frightened that if former Vice President Joe Biden wins he could bury the results.
“I will just tell you this. We are hopeful, and we expect to see a report by the end of the summer,” she said.
Last week two sources told Fox News that Durham could “punt” the end of the investigation, which was hampered by the coronavirus pandemic, until after the election.
“He believes it’s critical to do them,” one of the sources said. “He is feeling more pressure to get this done and wrapped up.”
The source said that Durham “does not want this to be viewed political,” but the closer it gets to November, he could “punt it to after the election.”
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley was not thrilled with the idea that the results of the investigation could come after the election.
“@realDonaldTrump #CommonSense IF NO PROSECUTIONS TIL AFTER ELECTIONS SAD SAD //just think Flynn Mueller Impeachment/ The deep state is so deep that ppl get away w political crimes/Durham shld be producing some fruit of his labor [sic],” he said in a tweet.
“Barr recently said ‘this is the closest we have ever come to an organized effort to push a president out of office ‘ leads me to think Durham wont report any prosecutions til after election so as not influence vote. SAD SAD,” he said.
The tweets were apparently in response to what Attorney general Barr said in an interview with Fox News.
“I think before the election, I think we’re concerned about the motive force behind the very aggressive investigation that was launched into the Trump campaign without, you know, with a very thin, slender reed as a basis for it,” he said in an interview with Bret Baier weeks ago. “It seemed that the bureau was sort of spring-loaded at the end of July to drive in there and investigate a campaign.”
