The U.S. military is giving Joe Biden until Tuesday to decide whether he plans to extend the mission in Afghanistan past August 31.
This comes after the Taliban threatened Biden and the U.S. to complete the withdrawal of all American troops by August 31 or “face consequences.”

The US military is advising President Joe Biden that he must decide by Tuesday whether to extend the evacuation in Afghanistan beyond August 31, according to a defense official directly familiar with the discussions, though Biden has yet to make a decision.
Military advisers have told the White House that the decision must be made by Tuesday in order to have enough time to withdraw the 5,800 troops currently on the ground, as well as their equipment and weapons. If the President agrees, the military anticipates “a few more days” of trying to evacuate as many people as possible before the drawdown of US forces begins, possibly at the end of this week.
As of Monday, Biden was still deciding whether to extend the deadline for removing all US troops, CNN has learned. Several of the President’s advisers have advised against an extension, citing the security situation on the ground. Officials have spent recent days monitoring potential terrorist threats, citing “persistent” and credible information that the chaotic situation outside the airfield has created a target for ISIS-K and other organizations.

The Taliban are essentially in control of Afghanistan and now issuing direct warnings to Joe Biden.
In an interview with Sky News, Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen warned Biden and United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson of “consequences” if he were to delay the withdrawal of U.S. troops past the original date.
Biden first announced the withdrawal of troops in April with a target date of Sept. 11. Then, the date was moved to Aug. 31, as reported by The Associated Press.
“It is a red line,” Shaheen told Sky News, referring to the deadline set by Biden. “President Biden announced that on 31 August, they would withdraw all their military forces.”
Shaheen warned that any extension of the deadline constituted “extending occupation while there is no need for that.”
“It will create mistrust between us,” Shaheen said in the interview. “If they are intent on continuing the occupation … it will provoke a reaction.”

As Afghanistan has collapsed and been taken over by the Taliban, Biden has faced extreme blowback.
The United Kingdom’s Houses of Parliament officially voted to hold Joe Biden in contempt over his disastrous handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Senate Democrats are planning to investigate the Biden administration’s “flawed” American withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The Senate Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committees — both chaired by Democrats — are planning to investigate the catastrophic withdrawal.
Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott suggested using the 25th Amendment to remove Biden from the presidency.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has slammed Biden for his handling of the withdrawal of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, which have descended into chaos over the weekend as Taliban forces seized much of the country.
McCarthy is now calling for investigations into Biden’s handling of the crisis.
Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she is drafting Articles of Impeachment against Biden as the debacle on his Afghanistan withdrawal of troops continues.
Kamala Harris is also reportedly refusing to accept any responsibility.
A source reportedly said that Harris refused to be part of addressing the American people after the terrorist group took over Kubal, the capital of Afghanistan.
A source said Harris screamed: “They will not pin this sh*t on me!”
