The pressure of campaigning for President of the United States is a ton for anyone to deal with on a day to day basis and that pressure could be taking a toll on former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democrat nominee for president.
Biden scolded a CBS reporter on Saturday for having the audacity to ask him about a story in The New York Post that alleged to show emails between Hunter Biden and an executive from Burisma, the company he worked on the board of, in the Ukraine, Fox News reported.
The unverified emails allege to show that Hunter Biden arranged a meeting between the executive and his dad when he was vice president.
“Mr. Biden, what is your response to the New York Post story about your son, sir?” CBS News reporter Bo Erickson said.
The former vice president did not offer a response but did give a stern scolding to the reporter.
“I know you’d ask it,” he said. “I have no response, it’s another smear campaign, right up your alley, those are the questions you always ask.”
Prior to Biden’s response a spokesman for his campaign said that the former vice president did not do anything improper.
“Investigations by the press, during impeachment, and even by two Republican-led Senate committees whose work was decried as ‘not legitimate’ and political by a GOP colleague have all reached the same conclusion: that Joe Biden carried out official U.S. policy toward Ukraine and engaged in no wrongdoing. Trump administration officials have attested to these facts under oath,” Andrew Bates said.
“The New York Post never asked the Biden campaign about the critical elements of this story,” he said. “They certainly never raised that Rudy Giuliani — whose discredited conspiracy theories and alliance with figures connected to Russian intelligence have been widely reported — claimed to have such materials.”
“Moreover, we have reviewed Joe Biden’s official schedules from the time and no meeting, as alleged by the New York Post, ever took place,” he said.
I asked Joe Biden: What is your response to the NYPost story about your son, sir?
He called it a “smear campaign” and then went after me. “I know you’d ask it. I have no response, it’s another smear campaign, right up your alley, those are the questions you always ask.” pic.twitter.com/Eo6VD4TqxD

The emails published by The Post indicated Biden’s son introduced the former vice president to a top executive at Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings less than a year before he pressured government officials in Ukraine to fire prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating the company. The issue of Hunter Biden and Burisma was a central issue during the Trump impeachment proceedings a year ago.
The meeting in question was revealed in the emails, according to the Post, which showed that the former vice president and his son met with Vadym Pozharskyi in April 2015 in Washington D.C.
The meeting was mentioned in an email of appreciation, according to the Post, that an adviser to the board Vadym Pozharskyi sent to Hunter Biden on April 17, 2015 — a year after Hunter took on his lucrative position on the board of Burisma.
Democrats and others have said that they believe the emails are part of a Russian disinformation campaign to smear Biden before the November election.
