Biden Lays Out How Dems Could ‘Add Seats’ During 2022 Midterms

President Joe Biden made a remarkable prediction Thursday when discussing Democratic Party prospects during the 2022 midterm elections in November.

Historically, the party in the White House tends to shed congressional seats as voters frustrated with the administration take out their frustrations on lawmakers.

Not only that but this year, thanks to the state of the country and the world under Biden — turmoil in Ukraine and a deadly, disastrous pullout from Afghanistan coupled with historic inflation, high gas prices, and continued supply chain issues — the Democrats look to take a beating later this year.

But the president not only sees a way forward for his party but also said he believes Democrats could actually make gains in November: All they have to do is replace the supposed enthusiasm that swept them into power in Congress and the White House.

“If we do that, we’re going to keep the House and keep the Senate — and add seats,” he claimed.

…Biden took a victory lap in a speech to the winter meeting of the Democratic National Committee in Washington on Thursday night, hailing his record on COVID-19 and the economy as his party braces for losses in November.

DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison noted in his introduction of the president that it was their first in-person meeting in two years, with over 400 committee members present, giving Biden the credit.

“We are back together because Democrats delivered,” he said. Harrison then led a call and response with that catchphrase, noting everything from the rollout of the vaccine to the nomination of the first black woman to the Supreme Court.

Biden’s optimism comes at a time when his job approval ratings continue to tank.

“President Joe Biden’s approval rating has taken another dive amid escalating prices across the country for gas, food, and other goods and services,” Breitbart News reported on Friday.

“According to Rasmussen Reports, Biden’s approval sank to 39 percent in the latest poll released on Thursday, with 60 percent of respondents saying they disapprove of his job performance. Just 20 percent strongly approve compared to 50 percent who strongly disapprove.”

Earlier this month, a survey found that a significant majority of Americans also don’t believe that Biden is mentally fit enough to serve another term.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll also revealed the lowest job approval rating (37 percent) from the poll since he became president just over a year ago.

“The recent poll revealed that the “underlying weakness” is to the degree that most adults “have doubts about his personal capacities.” When the respondents were asked if he was a strong leader, 59 percent said no, while 36 percent said yes. In fact, those percentages resemble his job approval; 37 percent approve and 55 percent disapprove,” Breitbart reported.

“Biden seemed to have lost independents, a critical polling group, on this topic. Fifty-nine percent of the independents gave the president’s mental sharpness a negative assessment, a rise of 13 percentage points since May 2020,” the report added.

But Biden’s troubles appear to have also transferred to his party, in line with the history of midterm elections.

The poll found that 50 percent of registered voters said they’d prefer Republicans to be in control of Congress, while 40 percent prefer Democrats.

It also revealed that 49 percent said they will support a GOP candidate in November’s midterm elections, with 42 percent saying they will vote for a Democratic candidate.

Other findings included:

–75% rate the economy negatively, with 39% saying the economy is in “poor” shape.

–54% say the economy has gotten worse since Biden took office, compared with 17% who say it’s gotten better and 27% who say it’s stayed the same since he was elected.

–50% say Biden bears a “good deal” or a “great amount” of the blame for the 40-year high inflation rate, while 48 % say he bears “not much” or no blame at all.

–59% say Biden is not a strong leader, compared with 36% who say he is; among independents 65% say he’s not a strong.
