President Joe Biden is being considered for a write-in in New Hampshire’s presidential primary ballot after a disagreement with the Democratic National Convention removed his name from consideration.
“It’s a really weird situation,” said CNN’s Isaac Dovere. “The president…is not on the ballot because of this DNC dispute about what the first primary should be. The Biden campaign is going to ignore the New Hampshire primary results no matter what happens. But Biden supporters would like to see the president not have a loss in New Hampshire, to lose to Dean Phillips, a congressman who’s running, or one of the other mostly perennial candidates who are up on the ballot.”
According to PBS News Hour reporting, Biden is “the first president running for reelection to skip the Granite State primary in more than 50 years.”
PBS News Hour went on to explain: “It’s all about a change to the Democratic National Committee’s rules that made South Carolina — not New Hampshire — the first official primary of the Democratic presidential nominating cycle. Because the New Hampshire primary is “non-compliant” with new DNC rules, the national party deemed the contest “meaningless.” The winner next Tuesday will be in name only, walking away with no delegates to the convention in August.”
“All sorts of other factors here, including the independents that might have been crossing over into the Democratic primary to vote for Joe Biden, seem like they might be more inclined to go vote for Nikki Haley,” Dovere said. “It’s a situation that has never been seen in New Hampshire before, and we’re all trying to figure out what’s going to happen.”
According to PBS, while all eyes are on Trump, Haley, and DeSantis as Republican primary candidates, Democrats will have to choose among 21 people who disobeyed the DNC’s orders to “take all steps possible not to participate” in the primary.
Among the prominent Democrats on the ballot are author Marianne Williamson and Representative Dean Phillips (D-MN).

A record-setting victory for Trump in Monday’s Iowa caucuses solidified his hold on the Republican presidential nomination for 2024, leaving his opponents far behind.
Hundreds of schools, churches, and community centers around the state hosted the caucus, as participants braved potentially fatal cold and hazardous driving conditions. However, the turnout was so high that Trump won the Iowa Republican caucuses by a margin of about 30 points, breaking Bob Dole’s record of nearly 13 points in 1988.
President Joe Biden took to X, formerly known as Twitter, soon after Iowa was called and said Trump is the “clear front runner” in the GOP presidential race.
In response to Trump’s victory, Biden wasted no time in beginning his fundraising campaign. He continued by slamming “extreme MAGA Republicans.”
“Looks like Donald Trump just won Iowa. He’s the clear frontrunner on the other side at this point. But here’s the thing: this election was always going to be you and me vs. extreme MAGA Republicans. It was true yesterday and it’ll be true tomorrow,” Biden wrote.
Biden followed up the statement with a request for donations to his 2023 re-election campaign.
Trump spoke to Fox News on Monday night, saying he felt “invigorated” and “greatly honored” after winning the 2024 Iowa caucuses.
“It really is an honor that, minutes after, they’ve announced I’ve won — against very credible competition — great competition, actually. It is a tremendous thing and a tremendous feeling. We have to get our country back,” he told Fox News Digital. “Our country has gone through so many bad things over the last three years and it is continuing to go through bad things.”
