Editor’s note: The original version of this story incorrectly stated that Biden did not know he was visiting with elementary school kids. As noted by Politifact, Biden was joking about the kids being older than they were. Joe Biden and Jill Biden visited an elementary school in Yorktown, Virginia on Monday — and it went about as well as one might expect.

Biden walked into a classroom full of masked children sitting at desks behind massive plastic partitions.

The sight alone of children being fully masked and behind these jail-like plexiglass barriers is enough to enrage most Americans.

But then Biden made matter worse when he asked the clearly young children if they were teenagers in high school.

Biden suffered another embarrassing gaffe over the weekend when he had to ask his wife to help him find his fae mask when it was in his own pocket.

During a speech in Duluth, Georgia, Biden, who is fully vaccinated and wants everyone else to be vaccinated because, he says, it keeps them safer, was in a panic looking for his lost mask at the end of his speech.

President Joe Biden momentarily lost his mask following a speech marking 100 days in office Thursday evening in Duluth, Georgia.

His wife, first lady Jill Biden, walked over to him and pointed to her mask, after which the president, who is fully vaccinated but has made a point of setting an example for others in wearing a mask even when solo as a COVID-19 precaution, started looking around behind the podium.

With Sens. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff approaching them on the stage, Biden could be seen flipping through a binder’s pages before he started shouting about how he could not find his mask.

“I’ve lost my mask! I can’t find my mask!” the panicked Biden was heard saying near the microphone as he looked for his mask.

“I’m looking for my mask! I’m in trouble!” he said into the microphone to the attendees.

Biden eventually got a mask and held it for the crowd to see before putting it on and walking off the stage.

But in a more consequential part of the speech Biden answered protesters who demanded he abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement with a request for more time.

Joe Biden gave an ominous message to hecklers at a rally Georgia when he was interrupted by them and their disdain for the current immigration system.

The protesters shouted, “end detentions now” and “abolish ICE” as well as “communities not cages” as Biden told a member of his staff to give them a microphone.

“I agree with you, I’m working on it, man, give me another five days,” Biden said in an attempt to end the heckling, and then he explained.

“Folks, you all know what they’re talking about. There should be no private prisons period. Private detention centers. They should not exist. And we’re working to close all of them,” he said.

But that is not what the hecklers said. They did not mention a thing about private prison. They mentioned abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“We voted for you too,” one of the protesters said.

“I promise you,” Biden said, The Daily Mail reported.

The speech came a mere two days after the Biden White House announced the nomination of  Texas, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

“Sheriff Ed Gonzalez is a strong choice for ICE Director. With a distinguished career in law enforcement and public service, Sheriff Gonzalez is well-suited to lead ICE as the agency advances our public safety and homeland security mission. I hope the Senate will swiftly confirm Sheriff Gonzalez to this critical position,” Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas said of his appointment.

“Separating families who arrive at our border harms children and is an affront to American values. Children should not be in immigration detention, period,” the sheriff, a staunch critic of Donald Trump, tweeted in 2018, CNN reported.

It also comes as Kamala Harris has faced criticism for not going to the border to address what many are calling a crisis.

She said that she will be holding a virtual trade mission and then an in person visit later to address the issues of farmers who have been hit hard by natural disasters in Mexico and El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

“We’re making progress, but it’s not going to evidence itself overnight. It will not. But it will be worth it, and I will tell you part of my approach to this is we’ve got to institutionalize the work and also internationalize it,” Harris said.

She said she is working with United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield to have other nations help stem the tide of migrants.

“Because, again, this is about the Western Hemisphere. We are a neighbor in the Western Hemisphere, and it is also about understanding that we have the capacity to actually get in there, if we are consistent,” Harris said.

And, on brand, she attacked Donald Trump and his administration for damaging ties with other nations and said that she and Biden are working to fix that.

“We have to rebuild it, and I’ve made it very clear to our team that this has to be a function of an American priority, and not just a function of whoever happens to be sitting in this chair,” she said.
