In a place like New York City you may think that someone as liberal as House Speaker and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi would be welcomed by everyone, but you would be incorrect.

The Speaker and her husband, Paul Pelosi, were attending the Global Citizen’s music festival in Central Park on Saturday night when actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas invited her on stage, The Daily Mail reported.

The premise of the concert was to raise awareness about climate change, but when the Speaker began to give her speech members of the audience could be heard booing her.

“It’s Nancy Pelosi,” a member of the audience is heard saying on the video. “Why is everyone booing?”

“As speaker of the house, I am here to thank you for your dazzling advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and determination as global citizens,” the Speaker said.

“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer,” she said. “It will slash carbon pollution by 40 percent by 2030, it will give a historic, a historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.”

She cut her comments short as the boos continued and she left the stage.

The appearance was notable for another reason, as it was a rare appearance for her husband who was sentenced last month and after a California police organization cut  ties with him.

The California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation terminated Paul Pelosi’s lifetime membership following his DUI guilty plea.

“After evaluating the events that led to Mr. Pelosi’s arrest and conviction, we are revoking Mr. Pelosi’s lifetime membership with the CHP 11-99 Foundation effective immediately,” the organization announced in a news release.

The charity noted Paul Pelosi, husband to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, flashed his membership card to police back in May when he was pulled over for crashing his car while being drunk.

“After evaluating the events that led to Mr. Pelosi’s arrest and conviction, we are revoking Mr. Pelosi’s lifetime membership with the CHP 11-99 Foundation effective immediately. A letter to Mr. Pelosi informing him of this termination was mailed out yesterday,” the letter said.

“The mere presentation of his 11-99 Foundation identification credentials to law enforcement made it appear that he was presenting them for preferential treatment whether that was the case or not which violates the terms and conditions he agreed to on his membership application,” the letter added.

Authorities released dashcam footage of Paul Pelosi slurring his words following a drunken crash in California back in May.

The dashcam video shows Paul Pelosi being questioned by California Highway Patrol moments after the crash that left another driver injured.

In the video, Pelosi can be heard mumbling to an officer that he had a “glass of champagne before dinner” and “a glass of white.”

“Officers responding to the crash after 10 p.m. said they found Pelosi in the driver’s seat of his 2021 Porsche Carrera, while the other driver — who was injured — was standing outside an SUV,” the New York Post reported. “When asked for identification, officers said Pelosi had offered them his driver’s license and an ’11-99 Foundation’ card, which supports CHP employees and their families.”

Pelosi was “unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage,” officers said at the time.

The dash cam video came after Pelosi appeared in court after being charged with Driving Under the Influence.

Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and causing injury in connection to the DUI.

Pelosi’s plea agreement includes a jail term of five days, although Judge Joseph Solga noted that he already had credit for four days, two from actual time served and two for conduct credits. The remaining day will be covered by an 8-hour work program, Fox News reported.

“The sentence also includes a three-month drunk driving program, one year with an ignition interlock device, restitution payments, as well as three years of probation. As part of the agreement, Pelosi pleaded guilty to violating California Vehicle Code 23153(a), and a second charge was dismissed in the interest of justice,” the report added.
