The former head of the U.S. Border Patrol who was forced out of his position by Joe Biden this year has issued a dire warning.
Rodney Scott said that beginning on Inauguration Day he witnessed “the unprecedented seismic shift in border security and immigration policy” that he believes “created the current border crisis,” and calling the current border crisis a threat to national security, The Daily Wire reported.
He said that Biden’s policies caused a “rapid disintegration of what was arguably the most effective border security in our Nation’s history.”
“The Biden administration’s team at DHS is laser-focused on expediting the flow of migrants into the U.S. and downplaying the significant vulnerability this creates for terrorists, narcotics smugglers, human traffickers, and even hostile nations to gain access to our homeland,” he said. “In my professional assessment, the U.S. Border Patrol is rapidly losing the situational awareness required to know who and what is entering our Homeland.”
He warned that the people who are exploiting the weakness at the border are dangerous.
“Low level, unsophisticated and uneducated smugglers are illegally crossing the border and increasingly evading apprehension daily,” he said. “To think that well-resourced terrorist networks, criminal organizations, and hostile nations are not doing the same is naive.”
“The experienced civil service staff within CBP, ICE and DHS have provided multiple options to reduce the illegal entries and reestablish some semblance of border security through proven programs and consequences, yet every recommendation has been summarily rejected,” he said. “Secretary Mayorkas is choosing to ignore the sound recommendations of career government leadership despite his own admissions that he agrees with them.”
Scott added that the large scale illegal entries into the U.S. are being operated by high-level drug officials in the Mexican drug cartels in an effort to create “controllable gaps in border security” which they then exploit to “easily smuggle contraband, criminals, or even potential terrorists into the U.S. at will.”
Scott urged Senate leaders to request highly detailed information, telling them specially what to request regarding the number of individuals that have been flagged at the border after being screened through the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB). Scott warned that the administration would try to downplay the numbers if they were ever released because they are high.
Scott wrote that more than 308,000 illegal aliens had evaded U.S. Border Patrol at the border, a number known as “got-a-ways.”
“As I stated upfront, it is my professional assessment that transnational criminal organizations (TCO), and other more dangerous actors are increasingly exploiting identified border security vulnerabilities,” he said. “The threats are real, and the situation is unsustainable, yet the current administration refuses to take any meaningful action.”
Biden forced Scott out of his job this year with no explanation which prompted criticism from former Donald Trump officials.
“I received my 3R letter today,” Scott, a 29-year veteran, wrote on social media. “For those not familiar, that is Federal government slang for the letter issued to SES level employees informing them of a directed reassignment. The recipient has 3 options – relocate, resign, or retire. No rationale or reason is required, nor is it disciplinary.”
“Just a simple needs of the service directed reassignment so the new administration can place the person they want in the position,” he said. “I will remain in my current position for about 60 days +/- and ensure a smooth [transition] … I remain confident that God is in control.”
Former Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf was furious with the decision by Biden.
“Ask career employees at DHS and they will tell you that this Admin is specifically targeting career civil servants for doing their job, questioning ill-advised decisions, and speaking truth to power,” he said. “Chief Scott is the ultimate professional and has served both R and D Admins.”
“They have also pushed out another high ranking individual at CBP, a 20+ year law enforcement professional,” he said. “Declaring war on professionals who question decisions during a crisis is not the way to run a Department. The Administration has no credibility left with USBP.”
