WH Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany Tests Positive for Coronavirus

As President Donald Trump recovers from coronavirus at Walter Reed Hospital, another of his top staff has tested positive for it.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany has tested positive for the coronavirus, she said in an announcement on Monday, CNBC reported.

“After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms,” she said in a tweet.

“No reporters, producers, or members of the press are listed as close contacts by the White House Medical Unit,” she said.

“I definitively had no knowledge of Hope Hicks’ diagnosis prior to holding a White House press briefing on Thursday,” the press secretary said.

“As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provide needed information to the American People at this time,” she wrote.

“With my recent positive test, I will begin the quarantine process and will continue working on behalf of the American People remotely,” she said.

“This is remarkable. The positive cases at the White House just keeps growing with White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany illustrating that people can test negative several times before a positive test. She like many others had multiple possible exposures,” reporter Yamiche Alcindor said.

“Kayleigh McEnany was briefing the press without a mask on after Trump tested positive,” reporter Kyle Griffin said.

“After Hope Hicks tested positive, Kayleigh McEnany was pulled off President Trump’s trip to New Jersey and later informed she’d had direct contact with Hicks. Yet McEnany did not quarantine and was at the White House Friday and yesterday, citing multiple negative tests,” CNN reporter Kaitlan Collina said.

“Prayers up for Kayleigh McEnany and her family. Not easy for a new mom to have to quarantine. Will be a challenge but we’ve all seen how @PressSec goes after a challenge. She probably has a binder that COVID should be afraid of, Robby Starbuck said.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski said they were stunned that she could have exposed others to coronavirus prior to them knowing she tested positive.

“That’s an important moment because it raised eyebrows at the time that he traveled with, this is before we knew anything about Hope Hicks, he traveled with a smaller party than usual yesterday to New Jersey,” Associated Press reporter Jonathan Lemire said, Yahoo reported. “and Kayleigh McEnany, who we were told was slated to travel with him did not. Instead, one of the deputy press secretaries did. Kayleigh McEnany was, we have now learned, notified of Hope Hicks’ positive diagnoses yesterday and later in the day still held a briefing with White House reporters, and, of course, she was not wearing a mask.”

“Good lord,” Scarborough shouted. “Are you kidding me?”

“Oh my god,” Brzezinski said. “Stop right there.”

“Wait. She knew before that press conference where she didn’t wear a mask, in front of all of those reporters, and had heated exchanges with Fox News reporters?” Scarborough said of the press secretary.

“Screaming about the river,” Brzezinski said.

“She knew that she had been exposed to this disease, and went out and still had a press conference in front of members of the press?”  the host said.
