Rep. Liz Cheney’s Republican primary opponent has managed to snag some important endorsements ahead of what is expected to be a very competitive race for Wyoming’s lone House seat.

Cheney is running against Harriet Hageman, a Wyoming-based attorney who has already been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, and she is “is relying on the typical RINO crowd, George Bush among them, for fundraising and support, hoping that voters will somehow look past her censure from the RNC, anti-Trump rhetoric, and participation on the hated January 6th Committee,” Trending Politics noted Monday.

By comparison, Hageman is relying on more grassroots support from the so-called “MAGA” base of voters in her state. In addition to Trump’s backing, her campaign has also received funding from pro-Trump billionaire Peter Thiel.

Now she is receiving several more important endorsements that she will rely on to convince longtime Cheney voters to cast a ballot for her instead and send the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney packing ahead of the November midterms.

That includes House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who is likely to become the new Speaker, replacing Nancy Pelosi, if the GOP manages to recapture control of the House.

“The most successful representatives in Congress focus on the needs of their constituents, and throughout her career, Harriet has championed America’s natural resources and helped the people of Wyoming reject burdensome and onerous government overreach,” he said in a statement.

“I am proud to endorse Harriet Hageman for Congress…I look forward to welcoming Harriet to a Republican majority next Congress, where together, we will hold the Biden Administration accountable and deliver much-needed solutions for the American people,” he said in an announcement.

Hageman responded with a thank you, adding: “I am proud to have your endorsement and I look forward to working with you on behalf of the American people and the people of Wyoming to hold the Biden Administration accountable!”

Other Republicans have voiced support for Hageman, as the DC Examiner notes:

Elise Stefanik soon followed suit and also endorsed Hageman for 2022. “I’m proud to endorse Harriet Hageman in her race to unseat Liz Cheney. House Republicans were ready for a change when I took over as Conference Chair, and it’s resoundingly clear that Wyoming families are too.” Stefanik later echoed the sentiment that Cheney has left the Republican party and Wyoming behind, saying “Liz Cheney abandoned her constituents to become a Far-Left Pelosi puppet.”

In a tweet last week, Hageman summed up who is supporting Cheney.

“Liz Cheney has the support of Never Trumpers Mitt Romney, Karl Rove, and the Northern Virginia special interests. I have the support of President Trump and the people of Wyoming. That is the difference in this race,” she wrote in a tweet that contained a link to a report from The Federalist noting that Romney was planning to attend a fundraiser for Cheney.

Trump endorsed Hageman in September, whom he said “is running against warmonger and disloyal Republican” Cheney.

“Harriet is a fourth-generation daughter of Wyoming, a very successful attorney, and has the support and respect of a truly great U.S. Senator, Wyoming’s own Cynthia Lummis,” Trump continued.

“Harriet Hageman adores the Great State of Wyoming, is strong on Crime and Borders, powerfully supports the Second Amendment, loves our Military and our Vets, and will fight for Election Integrity and Energy Independence (which [President Joe] Biden has already given up),” he added.

“Unlike RINO Liz Cheney, Harriet is all in for America First. Harriet has my Complete and Total Endorsement in replacing the Democrats number one provider of sound bites, Liz Cheney. Make America Great Again!” the former president concluded.
