CNN’s Alisyn Camerota Announces Passing Of Her Husband

CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota shared on social media Friday that her husband of 22 years, Tim Lewis, passed away earlier this summer after a prolonged battle with cancer.

In an Instagram post, Camerota revealed that Lewis died on July 27 from pancreatic cancer, just months before their wedding anniversary.

“Some very sad personal news to share: my beloved and extraordinary husband Tim passed away on July 27th, two years after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I cannot imagine any human being soldiering through a devastating diagnosis with more humor, humility and bravery than Tim. He was a phenomenal father, husband, friend and role model and the rest of us are left trying to follow in his footsteps. The kids and I are still getting our bearings. Tim imbued us with a lot of strength and stability and we’re determined to try to emulate those qualities. Tim devoted much of his life to giving back to his community and trying to make life easier for the people around him,” Camerota wrote.

“To that end, we’ve set up a fund in his memory to help other families enduring a similar struggle. I would be honored if you would consider a contribution. This month would have been our 23rd wedding anniversary. I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a deep, committed, loving partnership for the time we had. I plan to write more in the coming days and to be back at work in the next few weeks. Thank you all for your love and letters, trays of lasagna, and the many, many gestures of kindness. I am grateful,” she added.

The anchor also shared a photo of the two of them on their wedding day.

Camerota also shared a link to a donation website she set up to aid those suffering from pancreatic cancer on her Instagram story.

“Tim balanced a demanding career with a tireless devotion to his family,” she wrote. “He loved his wife and kids deeply and actively. Tim was famous for coordinating play-dates, soccer schedules, date night, violin and drum lessons, all while ordering fall clothing for the kids (to their chagrin) and making high-stakes work conference calls,” she wrote.

“He was a memory-making mastermind, relentless in his pursuit of family time through neighborhood walks, vacation hikes, and beach dinners. Even when it was just sitting at the kitchen table doing puzzles, being with family was the life experience Tim most valued,” she added.

Camerota joined CNN in 2014 after spending years at Fox News.

HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher challenged CNN host Kaitlin Collins over her network’s fawning coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris’ Democratic National Convention acceptance speech last month while adding that the network appears to most American cable news consumers as being overwhelmingly left-leaning.

Maher began the segment by noting a viral moment from an appearance by Collins on the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” after the host suggested that CNN is fair to both sides of the political aisle.

“He [Colbert] said something like, ‘You guys at CNN just report the news,’ and the crowd burst into laughter,” Maher recalled. “That tells you a lot, doesn’t it?”

Collins, unsurprisingly, offered up a strong defense of her employer. “CNN is the place where both sides can watch, and I think my show is evidence of that. We have lawmakers on from both the parties. We’ll have Elizabeth Warren on one night, and we’ll have Ted Cruz on another night. I think lawmakers from both parties should take questions, and you should push both of them,” she said.

“I’m talking about the people on CNN and I know what the conservative side of America thinks and I don’t blame them. I watched Kamala’s speech last night. It ended at 8:09 or, I guess, 11:09 in the east. It wasn’t until 11:23 until the one conservative guy, what’s his name?” he said, referring to former George W. Bush staffer and CNN contributor Scott Jennings. “Lonely Scott, I call him,” Maher said to audience laughter.

Again Collins defended her network and her show, saying it’s her job to call “bullshit” on both sides.
