CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings offered his take on President-elect Donald Trump’s political resurgence, describing his success with three words: “breaker of narratives.”
Jennings, often at odds with his fellow commentators on the left-leaning network, argued that Trump’s ability to overcome the legacy media narrative stemmed from his unwavering refusal to let it—or them—define him.
“Trump is having a helluva ride – the greatest political comeback story in American history. Plus, he just destroys one wrongheaded political narrative after another,” Jennings captioned a video of the exchange when he shared it via X.
When asked about Trump’s impact on U.S. politics in the past year, Jennings was frank and candid.
“Well, first of all, it’s the greatest comeback story in American political history,” he began. “I mean, when you think about all the things that you just listed that he survived from the political stuff to the lawfare to the assassination attempts to the Democrats changing out their campaign — when you think about all the unprecedented stuff that he had to survive in order to come back from losing in 2020 to winning not just the Electoral College but the popular vote in 2024. There’s never been anything like it.”
“One of the superpowers of Donald Trump is that he’s the breaker of narratives,” Jennings continued, pointing out that polls and legacy media outlets had overwhelmingly pushed narratives claiming he could never win, that the legal cases against him would ruin his chances of political success and that Vice President Kamala Harris was the strongest candidate the Democrats had ever fielded.
“Trump is the breaker of narratives,” Jennings repeated. “And I think he exposed, really, the political information-distribution complex in this election for what it is, which is often a distributor of narratives and not facts.”

Meanwhile, as President Joe Biden prepares to fade into the sunset, Vice President Kamala Harris’ political career may be waning as well, at least on a national level.
Harris allegedly told associates she was “staying in the fight” and considering a 2028 presidential campaign, prompting Democratic strategist Theryn Bond to urge her not to run for president again.
During an interview on Newsmax’s National Report last month, Bond said, “Please don’t,” when asked if Harris should run for president again in 2028.
Host Emma Rechenberg asked: “So two different perspectives here. Is this a good idea for VP Harris to continue her political ambitions?”
“Not to run for president again in 2028, please don’t. I can’t really speak for governor of California. Californians seem to support her significantly. We haven’t yet been able to measure what that support looks like after this current run she just had. That may be the only thing that she — I guess, may make sense for her to consider. But another shot at the presidency, I hope she doesn’t. And if she is relying on those same advisers that advised her this cycle, that’s not who I would listen to,” Bond responded.
Republican strategist Luke Ball concurred that a California gubernatorial campaign might be her only chance, stating, “I think she might have a hand up in California because I think that’s one of the only states where she might actually have an edge.”
“She’d have high name ID. But if she ran anywhere else in the country, I don’t think she’d be able to get elected to dog catcher, unfortunately,” Ball added.
