House Oversight Committee Chairman and Kentucky Republican Rep. James Comer says that the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden came at the perfect time to protect President Joe Biden’s son.
He appeared on NewsmaxTV and spoke to host Eric Bolling, formerly of Fox News, on Friday after Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed David Weiss as special counsel.
“What a joke,” the Congressman said. “This is an attorney general who has lost the confidence of the American people. He has done more to damage our justice system than any human being in recent memory. And here we are on the Oversight Committee – for all practical purposes have been the special counsel – for the past six months. We’ve produced more evidence than anyone that’s supposedly investigating this criminal activity by the Biden family.”
“And right as we get to the point to where we’ve traced it to Joe Biden and we’re at a position where we can win in court to fight their attorneys and get their actual personal bank records, he comes out with this,” he said. “This is another attempt to try to obstruct. They’re going to try to use this in court when they say, ‘No, we can’t give the Oversight Committee our bank records because there’s an ongoing investigation by David Weiss.”
The appointment of the special counsel came hours after Comer dropped a bombshell on the Biden family that should shake them to their core.
“This is always going to end with the Bidens coming in front of the committee. We are going to subpoena the family. We know that this is going to end up in court when we subpoena the Bidens,” he told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Thursday.
“So we’re putting together a case, and I think we’ve done that very well. We’ve shown the bank records,” he said.
“If I had subpoenaed Joe and Hunter Biden the first day I became chairman of the committee, it would have been tied up in court, and the judge would have eventually thrown it out,” the representative said.
“We have put together a case that I think would stand up in any court of law in America,” he said. “We want to talk to about three or four more associates first. We’ve been communicating with a couple of them.
“We’re trying to bring them in just like we did Devin Archer for a transcribed interview.,” the representative said. “If they don’t come in voluntarily, then they’ll be subpoenaed.
“It’s very difficult. You know how hard the Democrats tried to get Donald Trump. So this is very difficult,” he said.
While Democrats continue to claim that former President Donald Trump was coopted by Russian President Vladimir Putin — without evidence and despite several investigations that turned up nothing — it appears that the real benefactor of Russian largess is none other than Hunter Biden.
And, some Republicans believe, President Joe Biden as well.
Their beliefs were strengthened on Wednesday when Comer released a third memo “about the Biden family’s foreign business dealings, producing bank records purporting to show that Hunter Biden and his business associates received millions in payments from Russian and Kazakhstani oligarchs when his father was vice president,” Fox News reported.
The 19-page memorandum, accompanied by screenshots of redacted bank records, claims that substantial payments, amounting to millions, originated from Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings. Additionally, it says that payments were received from Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina and Kazakhstani oligarch Kenes Rakishev.
The memo also states that during that time, then-Vice President Biden participated in dinners involving Baturina, Rakishev, and a representative from Burisma, the report continued, citing the memo.
“Then-Vice President Biden met—in person, for significant periods of time—with those individuals or their representatives,” the memo states. “Then-Vice President Biden joined approximately 20 phone calls on speakerphone with Hunter Biden’s foreign business associates and attended dinners with foreign oligarchs who paid huge sums of money to Hunter Biden. Joe Biden, ‘the brand,’ was the only product the Bidens sold.”
