Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz obliterated President Joe Biden’s nominee to serve as the next leader of the Federal Aviation Administration, saying he’s not qualified for the position.

During a Senate Commerce Committee confirmation hearing, Cruz stressed the critical need for the next FAA administrator to have “decades of experience in aviation.” Cruz noted that Phil Washington, who is Biden’s nominee for the position, comes up woefully short of having the necessary experience.

“The nominee before us, Phil Washington, had a long and honorable career in the military. But he does not have any experience in aviation safety,” Cruz said. “This, quite simply, is a position he is not qualified for.”

“Washington is currently the CEO of Denver International Airport (DIA). He was first nominated by Biden last year, but he failed to advance amid concerns from Republicans about his experience. His confirmation has been further stalled by allegations of discriminatory and retaliatory practices by Washington at DIA and his involvement with a corruption investigation at LA Metro. Washington was CEO at LA Metro, which is being investigated after it awarded a pricey contract for a sexual harassment hotline – the hotline was found to cost over $8,000 per call it received – that was awarded to a charity run by a close friend of an LA Metro board member. Washington has denied wrongdoing, but Cruz has called on the Senate to proceed slowly with his nomination in light of these allegations and other whistleblower claims of misconduct,” Fox Business reported.

In his remarks, Cruz declared: “It gives no comfort to the flying public that their pilot might be a transgendered witch but doesn’t actually know how to prevent the plane from crashing into the ground and killing them,” Cruz said.

Cruz accused the Biden administration of “playing politics with the flying public’s safety” by nominating Washington for the position.

Cruz went on to assert that Washington’s previous management of city transit agencies is characterized by “mismanagement and wasteful spending.” He referenced news reports about Washington’s attempt to install a $200,000 sauna in the LA Metro’s employee gym, as well as his reported “lavish spending” as city buses “broke down and caught fire due to lack of money.”

“The New York Times reported that a Denver rail project overseen by Mr. Washington ran up a $2 billion-plus deficit and has become over 30 years behind schedule. Just last month, Mr. Washington, another Denver official spent more than $100,000 on a junket to Africa to drum up support for Denver’s airport,” Cruz said. “Government waste and delayed over-budget projects are things we want to change at the FAA, not continue.”

Beyond that, this has already been a tough week for Biden.

Former Trump White House immigration adviser Stephen Miller says Joe Biden may be committing an “impeachable offense” by resettling large numbers of illegal immigrants in the country.

“Perhaps in the history of the world, in terms of the number of illegal border crossers being resettled into the interior of our country in violation of plain law,” Miller said.

Carlson responded: “So there’s very little — I mean, you have an organization that is using the law to try and stop this. It’s happening in real-time, it’s been happening for six months without the knowledge of the 320 million American citizens whose country this is, but there is someone who can stop it, and that’s Greg Abbott, who’s the governor of Texas, who commands the Texas National Guard, and of course, it’s his border over which a lot of these people are coming. Why wouldn’t he shut the border tonight with Mexico and stop this?”

“That would provide the constitutional predicate for exactly what you’re describing. I would also suggest it would provide the constitutional predicate for the Supreme Court, if they had the moral courage, to strike down this entire scheme, which is a blatant violation of our entire constitutional Republican form of government. Let’s be very clear. When Joe Biden put his hand on the Bible and swore an oath to take care of the laws we faithfully executed, to uphold, protect, and defend the Constitution, and to ensure a Republican form of government to every state, he violated every single one of those commitments. I will also add this: If that’s not an impeachable offense, I can’t imagine what would be,” Miller added.

Earlier this month, U.S. Border Patrol Chiefs testified about the crisis on the southern border and how Biden’s lax policies have made things even worse.
