Conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife Ginni have been the subject of vicious attacks from liberals for a long time.

But the Justice was just defended by someone that liberals tend to love. His fellow Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Jonathan Turley reported.

She was at Roosevelt University in Chicago on Thursday when she spoke about the Justice.

“I have disagreed with [Thomas] more than with any other justice. Which means we don’t come together on many cases. And yet I can tell you that I spend time with him, understanding that he is one of the few justices who knows practically everybody in our building. He knows their name, he knows the things about their life, what their family is suffering. He’ll tell me, you know that person’s wife is sick right now, or that person’s child is having difficulty,” she said.

“There’s no other justice who does that. I try, but he does it better. He cares about people. Now, he cares on legal interests differently. And he sees those legal issues much differently than I do. I tell people, you know Clarence believes, just like him, because he grew up very, very poor, that everyone is capable of picking themselves up by their bootstraps. I understand that some people can’t reach their bootstraps. That’s a fundamental difference in how we view what the law can or should or does do for people. But I can appreciate him,” she said.

In July, former First Lady and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton disparaged Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas during a Tuesday interview with CBS morning show host Gayle King while making a claim about the health of women following the court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade on Friday.

“I think that was the goal of packing the court with justices who were on the record for many years of being against women’s constitutional rights to make decisions about our own bodies. I was deeply sorry that it actually happened,” Clinton began.

“But now that it has happened, I think everybody understands that this is not necessarily the only effort that we’re going to see this court undertake to turn back the clock on civil rights,” she continued before making what some have viewed as a racially-tinged remark about Thomas.

“I went to law school with Justice Thomas. He’s been a person of grievance for as long as I have known him — resentment, grievance, anger,” Clinton claimed.

“He has signaled in the past to lower courts, to state legislatures, ‘Find cases. Pass laws. Get them up. I may not win the first, the second, or the third time, but we’re going to keep at it,'” Clinton went on.

“The thing that is, well, there are so many things about it that are deeply distressing but women are going to die. Women are going to die, Gayle. Women will die,” she added.

And in July, entertainer Bette Midler has once again caused outrage on social media over a meme she posted disparaging Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas many felt was overtly racist.

The Blaze notes:

The so-called “progressive” actress assailed Thomas online because she was enraged by the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Midler posted a meme that many people are calling racist. The meme featured the face of Thomas photoshopped as a mask, but underneath is his wife – Virginia “Ginni” Thomas – wearing a black robe.

The responses to Midler’s “racist” post were swift and vehement.

Radio host Darvio Morrow: “Sigh. The racism combined with ignorance, arrogance and a religious belief in their own virtue leaves me speechless. I’m out of words.”

Pro-life advocate Obianuju Ekeocha: “The racism on the left is so deeply rooted that it’s terrifying.”

Union University dean Hunter Baker: “The left is secure and unchallenged in its deep racism regarding any independence of mind in black men and women.”

Former Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell: “Bette Midler continues to attack the black man.”

Writer Jim Teacher: “Libs love any excuse to be racist.”

Actor Clifton Duncan: “Black Americans, take note: The White ‘Progressives’ currently posing as our ‘allies’ are, in truth, some of the most vile racists you will ever encounter. And to think — there was a time I would have been thrilled to work with Ms. Midler.”

Here are several more, as noted by The Blaze:

Actor Kangmin Lee: “Clarence Thomas is single-handedly exposing the deep-seeded racism in the hearts of entitled white liberal women.”

Powerlifter Marc Lobliner: “If this isn’t racist….”

Editor Chad Felix Greene: “This is who they are.”

Actor Matthew Marsden: “Not all actors are like this. I promise.”

Columnist T. Becket Adams: “So … is that literal black face?”

Attorney NathanDallon chose instead to post a 1991 quote from Thomas, in which he said: “‘I’d grown up fearing the lynch mobs of the Ku Klux Klan; as an adult, I was starting to wonder if I’d been afraid of the wrong white people all along. My worst fears had come to pass not in Georgia but in Washington, D.C., where I was being pursued not by bigots in white robes but by left-wing zealots draped in flowing sanctimony.'”
