Control for the U.S. Senate may come down to a few races in November’s midterm elections.

The Republican Party’s goal of taking back the Senate could hinge on defeating a vulnerable incumbent Democrat in the battleground state of Nevada.

Nevada Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto is rated by Cook Political Report as a toss-up and Joe Biden only won the state by 2 points in the 2020 presidential election.

Last month, a poll by Democratic Blueprint Polling showed Cortez Masto trailing former Republican Attorney General Adam Laxalt by seven points.

Laxalt said Cortez Masto is in danger of losing re-election because she has not broken with her party on major issues that voters do not support.

“I think that’s why we’ve got such an amazing opportunity and such a great contrast with her,” Laxalt said. “This is a pretty centrist state.”

“Our Hispanic community believes in the American dream, they came here for the American dream,” Laxalt said. “They’re not signing up for a lot of this radical leftism that’s being pushed on by the Democrat Party.”

“There’s no question every single month, there have been more Democrats converting to Republicans than vice versa,” Laxalt said.

Laxalt raised $1.35 million in the last three months of 2021, after raising $1.4 million in the third quarter, The Nevada Independent reported.

“She certainly has an advantage as an incumbent, on campaign fundraising, and of course, she had a five-year head start,” he said, referring to Democratic Sen. Cortez Masto.

“She’s gonna need it,” Laxalt said. “They’re going to spend a lot of money trying to package her up and remake her. I don’t think it’s going to be effective. I don’t think all the money in the world is going to kind of fix her actual record.”

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Laxalt in the race for U.S. Senate last year, calling for him to defeat Cortez Masto, who he slammed as being a puppet for the far-left.

“Adam Laxalt is running for Senate in Nevada to defeat Harry Reid’s, Chuck Schumer’s, and Nancy Pelosi’s handpicked successor, and win an America First majority in the U.S. Senate. Adam is a Navy Veteran who served our Nation bravely in Iraq. As a former Attorney General, he has always supported our Law Enforcement and kept our communities safe,” the statement reads.

“He fought valiantly against the Election Fraud, which took place in Nevada. He is strong on Secure Borders and defending America against the Radical Left. Adam has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” the statement added.

In an interview last year with the National Review, Laxalt warned that Democrats are trying to finish off the project of “reshaping America” that failed in the Obama era.

“I don’t think there’s anything to point to that says America was looking for a radical transformation in (the 2020) election,” Laxalt said.

“Right now, it seems like the wrong side is winning,” he says in the ad over videos of Black Lives Matter protests, an Antifa march, and rioters smashing a window and burning an American flag. The radical left, rich elites, woke corporations, academia, Hollywood, the media: That’s your empire right there,” he says.
