Ahead of a potential third bid for a second term, some members of former President Donald Trump’s family are remaining engaged in conservative politics, especially Donald Trump Jr.
According to Fox News, the president’s eldest son has formed a new pro-gun rights group called the Second Amendment Task Force, which aims primarily to push back on left-wing Democratic attempts to undermine Americans’ right to keep and bear firearms.
“The Second Amendment is the whole ballgame; it’s the freedom that protects all of our other freedoms. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration and Democrats in Congress are hellbent on eroding our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, whether it’s nominating radical gun-grabbers to senior positions in the executive branch or pushing anti-gun legislation,” Trump Jr. told Fox News Digital.
“The Second Amendment Task Force is entirely devoted to ensuring the Left is never successful in disarming American citizens,” he added.

The Second Amendment Task Force is the first advocacy group that Trump has launched and been directly involved with. The group plans to make a push in the upcoming midterm elections this year, especially in the voter registration sphere.
Additionally, the group says it will fight against Biden administration nominees and Democrat legislative initiatives that could impinge on Americans’ Second Amendment rights.
Trump Jr. was one of several high-profile Republicans who rallied opposition to David Chipman, President Biden’s controversial – and unsuccessful – nominee to lead the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). He credited that battle for inspiring his decision to launch the group.
“The idea for the group came from our successful effort to stop a radical anti-gun lobbyist from becoming the head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF),” Trump Jr. told the outlet.
“We had to make sure that the American people knew what was going on, especially with Red State Democrats. If they’re considering casting an anti-Second Amendment vote, we’re going to make sure they feel the pain. This new group will help us put more structure and resources around those efforts to make sure we’re as successful as we can be,” he continued.
The new group plans to build out its membership using Trump’s vast social media and traditional media presence.
“With the Second Amendment under attack from the radical Left and the Biden Administration, the 2A Task Force is like a special ops team of activists, mobilizing freedom-loving Americans to fight back against any action that curbs the rights of gun owners and families,” the organization noted on its website.
“When President Biden nominated a radical anti-gun lobbyist to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Donald Trump, Jr. organized a massive campaign to sink the nomination in the U.S. Senate,” the site continued, citing a report from Yahoo News at the time that said: “Donald Trump Jr. helped sink Biden’s nominee.”
The site adds:
Today, the group is laser-focused on engaging grassroots activists to defend their Constitutional rights. Like a special ops team of advocates, the group rapidly mobilizes when Biden nominates personnel who could infringe on the Second Amendment, and to oppose executive or legislative action that curbs the rights of gun owners and families.
“This issue is personal to me because it’s about who I am and what I love – from shooting to hunting, to simply having the ability to protect my family,” said Trump.“But it’s also much bigger than that because it’s about preserving the one right that makes all of our other rights possible.
“The Second Amendment ensures that we can keep the ones we love safe from harm, but it also protects us from the would-be tyrants using the power of government to take away our liberties. As a child, I saw first-hand the effects of communism when I’d visit my grandparents in the former Czechoslovakia, and I can tell you – our freedoms are worth fighting for,” he continued.
