Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy blistered Press Secretary Jen Psaki after she spent the week peddling excuses for the myriad of problems facing the nation.

During the press briefing, Doocy confronted Psaki on both her claims that inflation was likely to be temporary and the Biden administration’s insistence that rising gas prices in the country could be tied to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“We just heard you say again that you think inflation is going to be temporary. We’ve heard you say that it was going to be temporary since last spring, so how long do you guys think temporary is?” Doocy asked.

“Well, again, Peter, I think what we do is we rely on the assessments of the Federal Reserve and of outside economic analysts who give an assessment of how long they think it will last,” Psaki replied. “The expectations and their assessment at this point continue to be that it will moderate by the end of the year. There is also no question that when a foreign dictator invades a foreign country and when that foreign dictator is the head of a country that is the third-largest supplier of oil in the world, that is going to have an impact, and it is.”

Doocy then asked Psaki about the White House’s repeated attempts to blame the gas price hikes entirely on Russian President Vladimir Putin and his invasion of Ukraine.

Doocy directly asked Psaki if the White House was just going to blame Putin and Russia for everything bad that has happened in the country until November’s midterm elections.

“And so to that point, inflation goes up today. The President’s statement blames the ‘Putin Price Hike.’ Are you guys just going to start blaming Putin for everything until the midterms?” Doocy asked.

“Well, we’ve seen the price of gas go up at least $.75 since President Putin lined up troops on the border of Ukraine,” Psaki replied.

CNN featured a segment last week about rising gas prices and host Bianna Golodryga did her best to shift the blame away from Joe Biden.

The segment featured reporter Gabe Cohen, who spoke with several Americans who vented their frustrations with gas prices rising across the country.

After Cohen detailed how gas prices are “up more than a dollar from a year ago and the highest since 2014,” Golodryga sat in silence with a puzzled look on her face while the reporter detailed how bad things have gotten.

Golodryga said: “Well, gas prices are still climbing across the country and could surge even higher because of the global crisis we’ve been talking about on this show, including mostly the tensions between Russia and Ukraine. The National average is now sitting at $3.49 a gallon this morning and CNN’s Gabe Cohen looks at if Americans will see any relief anytime soon.”
