Billionaire Twitter CEO Elon Musk is making headlines again after a stunning admission he made on Wednesday regarding his platform’s political past. Musk was responding to a user who commented on a Washington Post story about Twitter’s Trust & Safety team when he claimed the platform, under the old management team, interfered in U.S. elections.

“Twitter has shown itself to be not safe for the past 10 years and has lost users’ trust. The past team of ‘trust and safety’ is a disgrace, so it doesn’t have any right to judge what is being done now. They had a chance, but they sold their souls to a corporation,” a Twitter user commented regarding the Post story.

Musk then noted: “Exactly. The obvious reality, as long-time users know, is that Twitter has failed in trust & safety for a very long time and has interfered in elections. Twitter 2.0 will be far more effective, transparent and even-handed.”

It should be noted that while many people have accused Twitter and other major social media platforms of so-called ‘election interference,’ thus far no actual evidence proving the allegations has emerged.

That said, earlier this week Outkick host and Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren appealed to Musk to release internal Twitter documents that allegedly detail how past accounts and users were silenced or downgraded on the platform.

The best thing @elonmusk could do for our country and our first amendment is to EXPOSE the algorithms that have silenced us for years,” she noted on Twitter ahead of a “Fox & Friends” appearance on Tuesday.

“I think it is quite obvious if people know the truth and have access to free speech public platform, they might change the way they vote, and the left is terrified of this,” she told the morning show.

“Think for a moment, those on the left are saying free speech is threatened by free speech, which makes no sense whatsoever. To Elon Musk, I would say, release the free speech file, expose the algorithms,” Lahren continued.

“We don’t want an apology, we want acknowledgment and we want to know these spirits were valid and real and we deserve that. The American people deserve that and we should want that and know what algorithms were in place that could have changed a series of elections and I hope Elon exposes it all,” she added.

“The problem is for the left, when the truth comes in the door, the bs has to go out the window,” Lahren noted further.

“I have to hand it to Elon Musk, he is bizarre, he is a genius, the amount of heat he has taken and his businesses because of his decision of Twitter, he is taking incoming fire and he is doing it with grace and doing it for us. We applaud him and thank him,” she said.

The host was responding to a tweet from Musk earlier in the week in which he said: “This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in America, tyranny is all that lies ahead.”

As for platform interference with elections, The Western Journal noted:

The closest admission of government entities colluding with Big Tech social media firms came in August when, according to the BBC, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted to podcaster Joe Rogan that the FBI encouraged his company to be wary of “misinformation” ahead of the 2020 election, specifically regarding the topic of a laptop that belonged to Hunter Biden.

Musk has now suggested on several occasions that the public should know how Twitter handled the blocking of the bombshell New York Post story regarding the laptop, which contained droves of information linking the Biden family to questionable activities.
