Second gentleman Doug Emhoff discussed his intense “hug” with his wife’s running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, when the two met on-stage during the Democratic National Convention last month.
“We get up there and we just do this big bro bear hug, and I cannot tell you how many texts I got from my actual friends and actual family members, like, ‘You never hug me like that. What’s going on? You literally [just] met this guy,'” Emhoff told “Pod Save America” host Jon Lovett.
“Did you hit him on the back? Did you hit him on the back to preserve your heteronormativity? Did you give him the back pat or was it just a full embrace?” the host asked.
“Yeah, we just did this full-on — and he was like this, I was like this, and then there was just this bro hug. And I heard from a lot of actual friends,” Ehmoff responded.

Since Vice President Kamala Harris chose Walz, her running mate has been embroiled in one controversy after another, most of which has centered on his lies about his military service.
Walz served 24 years in the Minnesota Army National Guard but never served in combat, contrary to previous claims. Also, he was accused of being a “coward” for choosing to retire rather than deploy to Iraq with his unit in the mid-2000s.
What’s more, several Walz family members are supporters of former President Donald Trump, including a brother.
Earlier this month, investigative journalist Laura Loomer posted screengrabs of posts reportedly by Jeff Walz indicating that he donated to Trump’s 2016 campaign and is dissatisfied with far-left policies promoted by Democrats.
Loomer also posted screenshots of what appear to be Jeff Walz communicating with Facebook friends, suggesting that he hasn’t been in touch with Tim Walz for a number of years and that he has several potentially damaging stories to tell regarding his brother.
“Haven’t spoke to him (Tim) in 8 years. I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology. My family wasn’t given any notice that he was selected and denied security the days after,” Jeff Walz, who lives in Florida, wrote.
When another Facebook user suggested that Jeff get in touch with the Trump campaign, he reportedly wrote, “I’ve thought hard about doing something like that! I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it. The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.”
Loomer noted further: “Jeff has spoken out about the Biden-Harris regime and how Kamala Harris has turned our country into a ‘third world banana Republic.’”

In an interview earlier this month with SiriusXM podcast host Megyn Kelly, four former members of the National Guard who served with Walz criticized him and his decision to leave their unit after it received orders to deploy. Between them, they said:
It is morally indefensible.
He didn’t care. It was about him.
He’s a military impersonator.
I don’t understand how he could do it — morally. Or he has absolutely no integrity.
The word went all across the state that he had quit — who the hell does that? Just, unbelievable that a CSM abandoned his troops, 500 soldiers, and a thousand parents out there who expect that person to lead them into combat.
He’s a habitual liar, he lies about everything, he lies about stuff that doesn’t make sense.
He basically said he’s got better things to do, go pick somebody else for the mission. If you sold out your guard unit and abandoned them, what are you going to do at the national level?
