ESPN Host Stephen A Smith Says He Regrets Voting For Harris, Dems

Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith, who often delves into politics and current events on his show, said that he regrets voting for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Smith was never a person who walked in lockstep with the Democrat Party as he criticized the Department of Justice in the administration of President Joe Biden for going after political enemies.

And as the election got closer he criticized the Harris campaign for paying celebrities to inflate her crowd numbers.

The sports broadcaster and host of “First Take” appeared on the Fox News show “Life, Liberty and Levin” where host Mark Levin asked him if he would consider changing his support to President-elect Trump.

“Quite possibly. I’m not going to sit up there and dismiss that anymore. I think we’re beyond that. He would have to prove a lot, Mark. And I’m not talking about policy now,” Smith responded.

“What concerned me about Donald Trump and the reason I voted against him and voted for Kamala Harris was because I felt that he would be divisive, that he would create chaos because he demands such a level of loyalty and fealty to him. And that would take priority over governing our nation. That was my concern. And so I’m looking for both sides to work across the aisle from one another,” the sports commentator said as he mentioned that he supports many of the president-elect’s policies on the economy and immigration.

He then admitted that he voted for the Democrat Party in this election but has regrets about it.

“I voted Democrat, and I got to tell you something right now. I don’t like the fact that I did. I don’t like what I’m seeing,” Smith explained.

The ESPN icon said he is concerned that the Democrat Party is too focused on lecturing voters on being anti-Trump and not crafting its own policies.

“Nobody’s above the law. But then you go out and you’re pardoning your son, and you try to blame everybody else for it. I don’t want to hear about defund the police. I don’t want to hear about, you know, that there should be open borders. I don’t want to hear this stuff. And I don’t think most of the American people want to hear that,” he said.

Smith has a history of criticizing both the Republican and Democrat parties and in August he shredded Harris for not wanting to talk about her record.

On his show, Smith expressed his intention to vote for Harris over Trump in the November election, citing significant concerns about the Republican nominee. However, he praised Trump for his numerous interviews as a candidate and argued that Harris must also engage with the media if she hoped to secure victory.

“The only damn place we’ve seen Kamala Harris is at pep rallies,” Smith said on his podcast. “What’s up? Somebody got to say something. And it can’t just be the conservatives; right is right! I’m talking to my sister here, come on now! You’re running for the presidency of the United States of America. You got my vote! You’re running for the presidency of the United States of America. What’re you hiding for?”

Smith then urged Harris to “stand on” the record she and President Joe Biden have established in the White House, and questioned her recent shifts in policy positions, such as her stance on banning fracking and border security. He also expressed a desire to ask Harris about her awareness of Biden’s cognitive decline, framing these as “legitimate questions” for a presidential candidate.

Although Harris had not yet participated in an interview since becoming the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee, Smith offered to conduct a one-on-one interview with her, stating he would “gladly” do so. He extended the same offer to Trump. “Name the time or place, I’ll come to you,” Smith said.
