As part of the Justice Department’s probe into President Joe Biden’s handling and possession of classified documents during his days as a U.S. senator and vice president. The FBI has conducted two searches at the University of Delaware, according to a Wednesday report.

CNN reports that a source said the searches took place in recent weeks in cooperation with the president’s legal team. Materials were recovered during those searches, but apparently, they did not have any classified markings, though the FBI is currently reviewing them, the source said. CNN added that the searches had not been previously disclosed.

“The library at the University of Delaware, Biden’s alma mater, is home to an extensive collection of papers from the president’s time in the Senate, according to its website,” CNN reported, adding that investigators “examined two separate batches of documents during the searches: an archive of materials from Biden’s time in the US Senate and documents that Biden sent to the university in recent years.”

These searches are just the latest in what is a growing scandal involving Biden after former President Donald Trump was raided by the FBI in August for also being in possession of classified documents. Only, the former president had been reportedly working for months with the National Archives regarding potentially returning the documents.

Trump responded on his Truth Social platform in January following revelations that Biden had been found to be in possession of similarly classified documents.

“Page 1: The new narrative from the Fake News Media, virtually the same people that pushed the BIG LIE of Russia, Russia, Russia, only to go down in flames, is the even more ridiculous story that ‘what Bidden did isn’t as bad as what Trump did.’ Number one, I did NOTHING wrong, have the right as President to ‘declassify,’ had documents in a secure place, put an extra lock on at Radical Left NARA’s request, and was dealing with NARA nicely, as per PRA & Socks, until the FBI broke into Mar-a-Lago..,” he said.

“Page 2: Mar-a-Lago is a walled fortress, built with ‘unlimited’ money with the idea that it would one day be the Southern White House. I guess that turned out to be true! In addition to locks & a strong structural setting, I have security & Secret Service is there full time. Compare that to a flimsy garage, with NO SECURITY, & papers strewn all over the floor. Easy access for ANYONE! Also, he had them for 6 years in many different places. I ARRIVED to MAL with “papers” AS PRESIDENT. Joe a VP…,” Trump noted further.

“With all that has been stated on Pages 1 & 2 of Truth Social, and with all of the evidence leading to the fact that I DID NOTHING WRONG, AND JOE DID, our Nation has become an ‘Investigation Nightmare,’ despite the many other problems we have, which are many. It is NOW time for the USA to stop these RIDICULOUS INVESTIGATIONS, and that includes those D.C. inspired Local & State Which Hunts, and get back to the business of properly running our Country!” he added.

The first set of documents discovered to be in the president’s possession were found at an office he used at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., just days before the November midterms. The Justice Department, however, did not announce the discovery.

More documents were discovered last month in the garage of Biden’s Wilmington, Del., home. White House special counsel Richard Sauber released a statement after the discovery was reported in the media.

“President Biden’s personal attorneys have followed a process, coordinated with the Archives and the Department of Justice, to review documents at the Penn Biden Center and the President’s Delaware residences,” the special counsel said. “The President’s personal attorneys conducting the searches do not have active security clearances, so if they identified a document with a classified marking, they stopped and did not review it, and suspended any further search in that box, file or other specific space where the document was found, as appropriate.

“Since the DOJ made contact with the President’s personal attorneys, the next step in the process was to notify DOJ and to arrange for DOJ to take possession of the document,” he added.

“Because I have a security clearance, I went to Wilmington Thursday evening to facilitate providing the document the President’s personal counsel found on Wednesday to the Justice Department. While I was transferring it to the DOJ officials who accompanied me, five additional pages with classification markings were discovered among the material with it, for a total of six pages. The DOJ officials with me immediately took possession of them,” Sauber said.
