FBI Director Christopher Wray appears to be responding to a threat to hold him in contempt of Congress after his agency refused to turn over a document that was subpoenaed by the GOP-controlled House.
A spokesperson for House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) confirmed to The Epoch Times that Wray has agreed to bring the document in question to Capitol Hill for lawmakers to examine. According to whistleblowers who have spoken to Comer’s committee, the document allegedly contains evidence that then-Vice President Joe Biden was engaged in a pay-for-play bribery scheme involving a foreign individual seeking influence.
CNN added that Ranking Member Jaimie Raskin (D-Md.) will also be able to view the document.
The Epoch Times noted further:
The document in question, an FD-1023, allegedly contains uncorroborated allegations that President Joe Biden, while serving as vice president, engaged in a bribery conspiracy to alter United States policy in exchange for monetary gain to his family’s businesses.
An FBI whistleblower informed Congress about the document and expressed concern that the allegations were never thoroughly investigated.
Comer and Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley demanded to see the document, and Comer subsequently issued a subpoena.
During an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity last week, Comer revealed that he was in the process of drafting legislation to hold Wray in contempt of Congress. He discussed a conversation he had with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) regarding their interaction with Wray and the FBI’s failure to comply with Comer’s congressional subpoena.
According to a Saturday report, the source who claimed to have evidence of Biden’s alleged bribery scheme has been frequently used by the FBI since the Obama administration and is deemed to be “highly credible.”
As first reported by Fox News, the individual has alleged that the former VP “was involved in a criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national” and is an “FBI confidential human source…used by the bureau in multiple investigative matters dating back to” Barack Obama’s two terms in office.
The outlet noted further that Comer and Grassley were recently contacted by a whistleblower who made a claim that the FBI possessed an FD-1023 form dated June 30, 2020, that allegedly contains the explicit information on Biden.
According to the source, the document outlines allegations that during his time as vice president, Biden was involved in a criminal bribery scheme amounting to $5 million. The scheme purportedly involved a foreign national and aimed to secure influence over policy decisions, Fox News added.
A source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital on Friday that the confidential human source who provided the information regarding Biden to the FBI is a “pre-existing” FBI source who has been utilized in various investigations unrelated to the information concerning Biden.
The source also told the outlet that the confidential human source has been used by the FBI for “at least several years” before the June 2020 FD-1023 form detailing the Biden allegations was even generated.
The source also told Fox that the confidential human source was “consistently reviewed by the FBI” and has always been “found to be highly credible,” who also took part in several investigations undertaken during the Obama administration.
“We know the FBI has very serious allegations against then-Vice President Biden. The question is, what did they do with it? Did they investigate the leads or sweep it under the rug?” said a spokesman for Grassley in an interview with Fox News.
“This is exactly why we need transparency into the document and what the FBI did with it. That’s what Sen. Grassley has sought from the start,” the spokesman added.
“We are not out to get the FBI. We’re out to change the culture of the FBI at headquarters,” Grassley said in a recent interview, in reference to various and mounting instances of political bias in the FBI’s investigations.
