The Florida Senate has passed legislation that would forbid government agencies from entering a contract with companies that are transporting illegal aliens throughout the state.

Senate Bill 1808, which passed along party lines, is now going to the Florida House for debate, and then a vote will be held.

“You look at the border we want, [Biden] said we want a secure border, well he’s the one that opened the border,” Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis said recently. “Are you kidding me? If you look at the increase in people that are coming here illegally, two million people came illegally from over 100 different countries over the last year.”

“That was all as a result of the policy choices that were made upon him becoming president,” DeSantis added.

The bill also revises what Florida’s government considers a “sanctuary policy” and beefs up the requirements to work with United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Under the bill, as written, “common carrier” companies would be required to disclose to state agents if they transport undocumented immigrants, or “unauthorized aliens.”

Specifically, SB 1808 says that carriers who “willfully provide” any service to take an unauthorized alien into Florida, except to put them in detention, removal or departure processes, any state agency, corrections facility or department, or law enforcement entity would be prohibited from entering into contracts with those companies.

The bill does not specify a process to check if the service is provided knowingly or willingly by a company, and does not include language to require a company to check legal immigration statuses before transporting individuals.

If the bill passes and is signed into law by DeSantis, it would also require the state’s law enforcement agencies to enter into a 287(g) agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which calls for local and state law police to cooperate with ICE in enforcing federal immigration law.

Last month, DeSantis said he’s aware that Joe Biden’s administration has been flying illegal aliens into Florida, and he has a brilliant idea that he thinks will make it stop.

DeSantis slammed Biden and said he will put the illegal aliens on buses and ship them to Biden’s home state of Delaware.

“There’s no notification to the state of Florida,” DeSantis said. “These are done mostly in the middle of the night. And it’s clandestine. And we really have no say in it. … I know when we initially got wind of this, it wasn’t through normal channels, it’s people in the federal government who are effectively leaking this to us so that we have a heads up on it.”

“The President has said that basically, they want to even pay reparations to people who came illegally, just think about that,” DeSantis said.

“You as an American, you get higher gas prices, you get higher grocery bills, you get told basically, to just grin and bear it, someone breaks the law, comes illegally, and they’re going to cut him a check for hundreds of thousands of dollars. That is just unbelievable. But that’s what we’re dealing with,” he added.

“You know, my view would be, why don’t we, if they’re going to come here, you know, we’ll provide buses,” DeSantis said.

He added: “I will send them to Delaware and do that. I mean, if he’s not going to support the border being secured, then he should be able to have everyone there. So, we will do whatever we can in that regard. And we are absolutely going to do everything we can.”
