House Republican leaders announced they would open an investigation into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after discovering a letter she sent to a Democrat-controlled committee seeking assistance with her case involving former President Donald Trump.

Just the News reported Monday that the probe was launched after GOP investigators discovered a letter from Willis “in 2021 asked for the House Democrats” on the Nancy Pelosi-picked January 6th Committee “to send her evidence that would further her prosecution of Trump.”

The House Administration Oversight Subcommittee chaired by Rep. Barry. Loudermilk, R-Ga., said “it was concerned that the Democrat-run investigation led by Reps. Benny Thompson and Liz Cheney may have shared evidence such as video depositions with Willis’s office while not providing them to the Republicans that took over the House chamber in 2023,” the outlet’s report added.

The panel has accused Willis of “collusion” with the committee in one chapter of their report.

“During its initial review of records archived by the Select Committee, the Subcommittee discovered a letter from Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to the Select Committee dated December 17, 2021,” the report said, according to Just the News.

“In this letter, Willis requested access to any Select Committee records relevant to her investigation into President Trump’s actions to challenge the 2020 presidential election, including ‘recordings and transcripts of witness interviews and depositions, electronic and print records of communications, and records of travel.’”

The GOP report referenced articles from news outlets such as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Politico, wherein sources indicated that the Democrat-led Jan. 6 committee had shared evidence with Willis.

“Although no additional communications between the Select Committee and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office were archived by the Select Committee, the prospect of the Select Committee sharing video recordings of witness interviews with Willis but not this Subcommittee remains particularly concerning,” the report added.

“The Subcommittee has opened an investigation into the extent of the coordination between Willis and the Select Committee and is committed to uncovering answers to these questions,” the report said.

News of the letter comes as other aspects of the Democrat-led Jan. 6 Committee’s narratives regarding Trump have been exposed as lies.

For instance, Trump is taking a victory lap after a Secret Service driver of the presidential limousine refuted a narrative involving an alleged incident during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol Building.

On Monday, Trump declared vindication following the release of new evidence by Congress which undermined two sensational claims made by Democrats during the Jan. 6 investigation. The claims included the assertion that he attempted to seize his Secret Service vehicle that day to travel to the Capitol and the allegation that he never proposed National Guard troops for additional protection prior to the fateful event.

“These were made-up, fabricated stories,” Trump told Just the News.

Loudermilk released transcripts and other evidence in an interim report that concluded the Democrat-run House Select Committee on Jan. 6 withheld from the public evidence that contradicted its final conclusions.

Just the News added:

That evidence included an interview with the Secret Service driver of the presidential SUV, who directly contradicted former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, the Democrats’ star witness during their 2022 nationally televised hearing, and disputed her claim Trump tried to grab the wheel of the presidential car known as “The Beast” and tried to strangle a Secret Service agent in a desperate effort to get his detail to go the Capitol where the Jan. 6, 2021, riot was happening.

Trump has always denied the account, and Loudermilk’s report released parts of testimony from multiple Secret Service and White House officials that directly undercut the claims of Hutchinson and the conclusions of the Democrat-led investigation released in December 2022.

Late last week, Loudermilk’s committee released evidence showing that Trump did, in fact, request 10,000 National Guard troops be deployed ahead of Jan. 6, and that the committee buried the evidence.
