Three Republican senators on Wednesday made public a recently declassified list of former Obama administration officials who “unmasked” former national security adviser Michael Flynn in late 2016 and early 2017.
“A list of Obama administration officials who sought to unmask intercepted communications involving former White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was declassified and released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) on Wednesday,” The Federalist reported.
The list includes the names of more than three dozen former Obama administration officials.
Below are a few of the big names on the documents that “unmasked” Flynn’s identity:
- Former Vice President Joe Biden
- Former White House chief of staff Denis McDonough
- Former FBI director James Comey
- Former CIA director John Brennan
- Former director of national intelligence James Clapper
The list was recently declassified by President Donald Trump’s top intelligence adviser, Richard Grenell, and given to the Justice Department.
Grennell then provided the list to Republican Sens. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, and Rand Paul of Kentucky. The trio then made the documents available to the public.
Unmasking involves revealing the identity of an American’s private phone conversations without a constitutional warrant.
CBS News correspondent Catherine Herridge tweeted out screenshots of the documents:

These documents are particularly important because Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has changed his story several times in recent days on his role in unmasking Flynn’s identity.
Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz pointed out on Twitter this week that Biden can’t keep his story straight.
Cruz responded to a tweet from conservative Benny Johnson, who shared a video clip on May 12 showing Biden claiming he “nothing” about the moves to investigate Flynn.
Then, Biden backtracked when ABC’s George Stephanopoulos pointed out that he was at the meeting at the White House where they discussed Flynn.
As evidenced in the screenshot above, Biden literally unmasked Flynn’s name.
He’s either lying about his role in the Obama administration going after Flynn or he’s become too senile to remember what he did a few years ago.
TWO Biden falsehoods revealed in 24 hours. First, he tell ABC he knew nothing about Obama targeting Gen. Flynn. George STEPHANOPOLOUS calls him out & Biden backtracks. Second, Biden says “that’s ALL I know about it.” Also FALSE—revealed today Biden personally unmasked Flynn. https://t.co/senHwofwWb

Last week, the Department of Justice filed a motion to dismiss its criminal case against Flynn following explosive new evidence in the case.
In the newly released documents, we learned that the FBI had drawn up paperwork to close the case against Flynn, but fired agent Peter Strzok made a last-minute move to keep it open.
Strzok was fired for sending countless anti-Trump text messages to Lisa Page, a former FBI lawyer with whom he was having an affair.
Strzok played a critical role in going after Flynn, the new documents reveal.
Handwritten notes from the FBI — which were withheld from Flynn’s defense team for years — show that a key goal of the agents investigating Flynn was “to get him to lie so we can prosecute him or get him fired.”
One could certainly make the argument that top brass at the FBI — such as Strzok and Page — may have deleted or altered Flynn’s original interview summary to make it better fit their goal, which was to charge him.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also made some explosive comments, going as far as saying the new evidence could “warrant additional charges against” top brass at the FBI.
