Guthrie Compares Trump To A ‘Crazy Uncle’ For Retweeting Conspiracy Theories

NBC News host Savannah Guthrie asked President Donald Trump on Thursday night during a town hall about a controversial retweet regarding Osama bin Laden.

Trump said “that was a retweet, I’ll put it out there. People can decide for themselves.”

Guthrie replied: “I don’t get that. You’re the president. You’re not, like, someone’s crazy uncle who can just retweet whatever.”

Conservatives have erupted in anger after Guthrie grilled Trump with a “question every 12 seconds” while ABC’s George Stephanopoulos was accused of forgetting to ask Joe Biden about his son Hunter’s emails.

Trump and Biden both held their town halls Thursday evening, with viewers forced to choose between the clashing timetables.

On NBC, Trump was asked about coronavirus, QAnon, his own diagnosis, and his taxes by Guthrie while, on ABC, Biden spoke LGBTQ rights, court-packing, and the 1994 crime bill with Stephanopoulos.

Conservatives on Twitter did not enjoy the combative nature of the NBC News town hall and put the blame squarely on Guthrie for how it went. Below you can read a sampling of those responses.
