Longtime Washington Post columnist Hugh Hewitt walked off a live show and quit the newspaper adding to a string of controversies the paper is facing.
“I have in fact quit the Post, but I was only writing a column for them every six weeks or so,” the columnist and radio host said to Fox News.
On Friday Hewitt walked off the set of “First Look,” a show on “Washington Post Live,” where he was speaking with liberal columnists Jonathan Capehart and Ruth Marcus.
“Does it seem like Donald Trump is laying the groundwork for contesting the election by complaining that cheating was taking place in Pennsylvania?” the liberal columnist said to Marcus. “By suing Bucks County for alleged irregularities, and this is on top of his continual assertion that if he loses, it’s because of cheating.”
“No election can be fair in Donald Trump’s mind unless Donald Trump wins it,” Marcus responded.
As Hewitt attempted to interject, Capehart snapped at him saying, “Let Ruth finish, Hugh.”
“Well, I’ve just got to say, we’re news people, even though it’s the opinion section,” Hewitt, a conservative supporter of the former president, said. “It’s got to be reported. Bucks County was reversed by the court and instructed to open up extra days because they violated the law and told people to go home. So that lawsuit was brought by the Republican National Committee, and it was successful. The Supreme Court ruled that [Virginia Gov.] Glenn Youngkin was successful.”
“We are news people, even though we have opinions, and we have to report the whole story if we bring up part of the story,” he said. “So, yes, he’s upset about Bucks County, but he was right, and he won in court. That’s the story.”
The biased Capehart then had a tantrum.
“I don’t appreciate being lectured about reporting when, Hugh, many times, you’ve come here saying lots of things that aren’t based in fact,” he said before Hewitt stood and began removing his earpiece.
“I won’t come back, Jonathan. I’m done. I’m done. This is the most unfair election ad I’ve ever been a part of. You guys are working. That’s fine. I’m done,” the conservative said.
The Washington Post is completely falling apart. Hugh Hewitt got fed up of the lies and disinformation being put out by his fellow journalists about Trump and walked out. There’s at least one guy there who still has a sense of journalistic responsibility to report the truth. pic.twitter.com/4gJkmy7L1U

The former president was successful in his lawsuit with the county to extend early voting, The New York Times reported.
Bucks County, a crucial battleground north of Philadelphia, had given voters until 5 p.m. on Tuesday to apply in person at county offices for a mail-in ballot. In the lawsuit, the Trump campaign said that some voters were turned away well before the deadline and left without being able to apply for and cast their ballot.
On Wednesday, Judge Jeffrey G. Trauger of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas granted the Trump campaign’s request to extend the mail ballot application deadline. Voters now have until the close of business on Friday to apply in person.
In Pennsylvania, voters can apply for a mail-in ballot. If deemed eligible to vote, they can fill out and deliver the ballots at the county offices on the same day or return to drop them off on another day.
It came after a video online showed voters being turned away at 2:30 PM from early voting as long lines plagued the county.
“The Pennsylvania Department of State made clear if voters are in line at a county elections office by 5:00PM, the counties MUST give voters the opportunity to apply for their mail-in ballot. Pennsylvania voters were turned away as early as 2:30PM,” the Trump campaign said in a press release.
“Yesterday, Kamala delivered a speech of falsehoods in Washington, DC, claiming Republicans are a threat to democracy–while her allies in battleground Pennsylvania are actively turning away voters,” the campaign said.
“This is against the law. This is voter suppression from the left. We will fight for every legal vote in Pennsylvania. Go vote, and stay in line!” it said.
