A former GOP lawmaker from Virginia who broke with then-President Donald Trump and assisted the Democrat-led January 6 committee’s investigation is now part of Hunter Biden’s legal team.
According to the Daily Caller, Denver Riggleman, “who also served as a technical adviser to the House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6 Capitol breach,” is providing similar services to assist in the first son’s defense as Republican-led congressional probes continue to find additional evidence he may have committed additional crimes in attempting to sell access to foreign entities.
“I and my forensics, data, and telephony team are conducting data investigations and analysis for Hunter Biden’s legal team,” Riggleman said in a statement that CBS News cited. He added that his team is concentrating on “data across the spectrum.”

Riggleman, a 53-year-old former Air Force intelligence officer and vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, authored a book entitled “The Breach,” in which he argued that far-right extremism and conspiracy theories present a threat to American democracy.
Calling Riggleman an “invaluable resource,” Biden’s lawyer and confidant Kevin Morris also confirmed that Riggleman has been assisting their legal team since late 2022.
“We have made tremendous strides in untangling the massive amount of corruption and disinformation involved in this story. There will be much more coming to the public,” Morris told CBS News.
His remarks suggest that Riggleman has been involved in investigating and examining the claims related to the data discovered on Hunter Biden’s laptop, which reportedly had been abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop in 2019.
Sources knowledgeable about Riggleman’s involvement shared with CBS that he has dedicated months to conducting a digital forensic analysis of the laptop. His objective is to ascertain whether any of the data, including text messages, has been manipulated or falsified.
When the New York Post broke the first stories about the laptop — which contained highly damning evidence about alleged Biden family corruption — most of the mainstream media dismissed it as “Russian disinformation.” In addition, a group of more than 50 current and former U.S. intelligence officials suggested as much in a letter that was widely cited by the same outlets in the weeks before the 2020 election.
Ultimately, many of those same media sources have confirmed the information on the laptop is genuine.
Meanwhile, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer made a stunning claim late last month regarding whistleblowers and other witnesses who have been providing testimony to his panel regarding President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
The Kentucky Republican has said he has received credible allegations that Joe Biden’s legal team is harassing and even threatening some of the committee’s witnesses.
“We’ve got witnesses that are scared to death to come forward. They fear for their lives,” he told the Just the News podcast.
Comer expressed concerns about witness intimidation within his district, emphasizing that high-ranking officials from the Democratic Party are exerting pressure on banks that have cooperated with subpoenas issued by his Oversight and Accountability Committee.
The committee chairman expressed profound concern regarding the legal letters and implicit threats directed towards witnesses by supporters of Hunter Biden. Reports indicate that cooperating banks have been subjected to threats, while political attack campaigns have been funded in the districts of certain lawmakers involved in investigating allegations of influence peddling by the Biden family.
“The Hunter Biden legal team — they’re testing the limits,” Comer said. “I’ll put it like that with respect to witness intimidation. I mean, just look in my district. We’ve got dark money groups that are being funded through prominent high-ranking Democrat officials in Congress. Also, the communications director for the White House continues to retweet things trying to intimidate me for having the audacity to investigate.
“We’ve got witnesses that are scared to death to come forward. They fear for their lives. I mean, you’ve got the banks that have worked with us, they’re being squeezed by attorneys, by high-ranking officials in the Democrat Party for having the nerve to work with us to comply with our subpoenas,” he added.
