Speculation Mounts That Hillary Will Run in 2024 After Resurgence Of Clinton Global Initiative

Rumors have been rampant that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who campaigned for president two times unsuccessfully, will give it another shot again in 2024.

And one thing that has some people convinced is the new relaunch of the “Clinton Global Initiative,” as announced by former President Bill Clinton in a letter on Friday, The Associated Press reported.

The Clinton Foundation is planning another Clinton Global Initiative – a high-profile gathering of business, political and philanthropic leaders – this September in New York, according to a letter former President Bill Clinton sent to the foundation’s supporters Friday.

The initiative, which began meeting annually in 2005 and boasted speakers ranging from former presidents Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter to celebrity philanthropists like Bono and Ben Affleck, ended in 2016 during former Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, when questions were raised about the appearance of potential conflicts of interests if donors then had business before Hillary Clinton’s administration.

In the letter, the former president said that the “kind of cooperation and coordination,” that he said happened when the initiative first launched in 2005, “has never been more urgent than it is now.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic has ripped the cover off of longstanding inequities and vulnerabilities across our global community. The existential threat of climate change grows every day. Democracy is under assault around the world, most glaringly in Ukraine where Russia has launched an unjustified and unprovoked invasion that has put millions of lives in grave danger. The number of displaced people and refugees worldwide is higher than it has ever been—more than one in 95 of all people alive on the planet today has been forced to flee their home—and rising. And it seems that all across the globe, people are pulling away from those who are different from them—putting our future at greater risk and making it harder to solve the challenges and seize the opportunities in front of us,” the former president said.

“To meet the urgency of this moment, I am calling on the CGI community to come together again—alongside new members and voices including influential emerging leaders and grassroots activists—beginning with a meeting in New York City this September,” he said.

“Just like the world we’re living in, the September meeting will likely look different than the ones we held before. But what will not be different is the spirit that has driven CGI from the very beginning—the idea that we can accomplish more together than we can apart.

“Our commitment-based approach to creative cooperation has been successful. Through CGI, more than 3,700 projects and partnerships—what we call Commitments to Action—have been launched, making a difference in the lives of more than 435 million people in over 180 countries. I’m deeply grateful to all of you for the impact you have made with CGI,” he said.

But these crises that he speaks of in the letter have been around for some time, and the thought from many on Twitter is that what the Clintons really need is a war chest for a 2024 presidential campaign.

“Bill Clinton just announced the Clinton Global Initiative is coming back online and that is all the confirmation we need that Hillary is running,” Human Events editor Jack Posobiec said.

“Translation: Hillary is exploring running in 2024,” another Twitter user said.

“Biden is such a failure that he’s enabled the resurgence of the Clinton Cabal,” Jeff Carlson said.

But some had other ideas for the reason.

“If you’re wondering about the timing here, the Clintons know how huge the Ukraine donations tap is going to be. Grifting and money laundering vehicles like the Clinton Foundation are designed to funnel that money back to DC elites, to favored NGOs, etc,” podcast host Hans Mahncke said.
