Arizona Republican Rep. Andy Biggs has introduced two articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

In his articles of impeachment, Biggs accuses Mayorkas of having presiding over a “reckless abandonment” of border security since taking the helm at DHS.

“Certainly Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have a substantial amount of blame with this, they’re the ones who campaigned on this, but Mayorkas has not pushed back at all,” Biggs said.

“So he is the guy who is responsible for the border security and national security and it is a disaster down there. He has failed utterly in his duty,” he added.

The first article of impeachment accuses Mayorkas of having “engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with his duties as an Officer of the United States.”

“Secretary Mayorkas has failed to faithfully uphold his oath and has instead presided over a reckless abandonment of border security and immigration enforcement, at the expense of the Constitution and the security of the United States,” the first article says.

The resolution claims Mayorkas violated the Immigration and Nationality Act’s requirement that inadmissible migrants be processed under expedited removal and put into removal proceedings.

“The Secretary of Homeland Security does not have the option of simply releasing those aliens into the interior of the United States,” it says.

The second article accuses Mayorkas of having “engaged in a pattern of conduct that has placed departmental personnel and American citizens at risk of exposure to and contracting COVID-19 by refusing to take necessary steps to prevent potentially contagious illegal aliens from entering the United States.”

“This is not because of his personality, not because of his partisanship,” Biggs said. “I don’t care about that. What this is about is he is enacting bad policy.”

Given Democrats control both the U.S. House and Senate, it’s improbable that Mayorkas is impeached and removed.

But Biggs is stressing that lawmakers have a constitutional obligation to hold the Biden administration accountable.

The Biden border crisis is literally getting worse by the day.

A new projection from the Center for Immigration Studies reveals that a record 210,000 illegal aliens were apprehended in July, marking the worst month in 21 years.

The CIS report stated:

For the sixth consecutive month since President Joe Biden took office and followed through on campaign promises to dismantle his predecessor’s deterrence-based policies, the number of illegal immigrants encountered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection broke records, reaching 210,000 in July, the Associated Press reported Monday.

The outlet cited a court filing by David Shahoulian, assistant secretary for border and immigration policy at the Department of Homeland Security. Based on past trends, the vast majority of those encountered were likely illegal immigrants apprehended by the Border Patrol.

The numbers are downright horrifying.

July’s 200,000-plus encounters exceeded the monthly total of 188,829 immigrants encountered in June.

A new projection from Princeton Policy Advisors reveals that more than 1.8 million illegal immigrants are expected to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in 2021.

The group said it would mark the “worst ever” on record, which is another stunning reminder of how bad things have gotten under Joe Biden.
