While many surveys have shown that most people are worried about President Joe Biden’s mental health, a new investigation reveals that First Lady Jill Biden is very involved in her husband’s administration, even though she doesn’t publicly acknowledge it.
In order to relieve her husband of what seems like an overwhelming amount of responsibility, Jill Biden reportedly takes part in the appointment of administration officials, sits in on meetings, protects her husband from draining events, and does a laundry list of other things.
Given that Jill is doing so much behind the scenes to assist her husband with such basic tasks, insiders have suggested that her efforts point to a larger issue.
“Jill Biden’s reported influence in the White House comes as Joe Biden has been scrutinized for being led off stage by the first lady, and appearing to be physically led away from reporters’ questions. Jill Biden has been appearing frequently at public events and plans to hit the campaign trail going into the 2024 election,” the outlet reported.
The Guardian previously reported that Jill Biden is “running the show” behind the scenes:
Behind the scenes, First Lady Jill Biden might be running the show. In an interview with David Muir, President Biden was asked about a second run, and he joked, “I gotta call [Jill] and find out.” He was kidding, but there is some truth behind his wife’s influence. A former senior adviser told Politico, “She is always his final gut check.” As of April 2023, the president officially made his re-election bid. He released a campaign video where his wife can be spotted embracing the vice president, speaking out, and politicking on the campaign trail.
A former advisor to the Head of State shared, “She is usually in the room when senior campaign staff is presenting a strategy to her husband. She will ask questions. But she never weighs in on the decision.”
“The first lady, Jill Biden, encouraged her husband to seek a second term. According to the president’s senior advisers, he will often consider her opinion before making final decisions on official matters. She is also expected to play a large role on the campaign trail as Biden faces backlash from his family. A career educator, she offers a perspective over GOP fights about book bans and other policies in schools and has served as a connection to suburban voters, particularly women,” the outlet added.
Reports have leaked that Jill Biden tries to exert control over her husband throughout the day and gets furious at staff members.
While Biden has traditionally had a “likeability” edge over Trump, the most recent poll also shows that the two men are tied in that category, according to NBC political reporter Steve Kornacki, who reported on Sunday that Trump was leading Biden in the network’s poll by a margin of 46-44 percent.
The political reporter went on to say that the poll showed that just 40% of people were satisfied with Biden’s performance as president, the lowest percentage during the current administration.
Furthermore, only 30% of Independents who identify as such rate Biden’s performance on the job as good.
“If you take a look here by party, I think it’s significant for two reasons: one, Independents, obviously, more than two to one disapprove. You don’t want to be there as an incumbent president. But I think equally significant, no surprise, 7% of Republicans approve of Joe Biden, job performance, but three times as many Democrats, 21%, that’s more than one in five, say they disapprove. You need much more unified support in your own party if you’re going to have a successful reelection campaign,” Kornacki said.
